Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Roark.
Hi Camille, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I don’t think there’s one big moment where I decided, “I’m going to be a makeup artist.” It happened little by little. I fell in love with the creative side of it, kept saying yes to opportunities, and somehow those opportunities grew into a career that’s taken me places I never imagined. Fourteen years later, I’ve worked from Barcelona to Trinidad, had my work published in over 300 magazines, and met some incredible people along the way. Through it all, I’ve never lost sight of why I started—to help people feel confident.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been balancing two careers while still making time for my family and for myself. There were seasons where life demanded more of me than I thought I had to give, and my business had to evolve right alongside me. I’ve also had to learn that not every opportunity is the right opportunity. Early on, I said yes to everything. Now I’m much more intentional about the people I work with and the experiences I create. Looking back, every challenge has made me a better artist and a better business owner.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about C. Roark Distinction?
C. Roark Distinction was built on the belief that makeup should never wear you—you should wear it. I specialize in timeless, polished makeup that enhances who you already are, whether you’re walking down the aisle, stepping in front of the camera, or simply celebrating a milestone. My goal has never been to transform people into someone else; it’s to help them recognize the best version of themselves.
What sets my brand apart is the experience. I want every client to leave feeling more confident than when they arrived. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work on runways, in editorial, and with clients from all walks of life, but some of my favorite moments happen in the chair, when someone catches a glimpse of themselves and can’t stop smiling. That’s why I do what I do.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people assume I’m really outgoing because of what I do, but I’m actually a huge introvert. I’m happiest with a good book, a quiet afternoon at home, or spending time with the people closest to me. Ironically, makeup became the thing that pushed me out of my comfort zone, and I’m so grateful it did.
