Hidden Gems: Meet Chrissy Osborne of Thirsty Bird Mobile Soda Shop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chrissy Osborne.

Hi Chrissy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a wife, home school mom of three, and entrepreneur based in Cypress, TX. My husband and I spend most of our time running between sporting events, practices, school activities, and all the beautiful chaos that comes with raising a family. On those long hot days I always crave an iced cold fountain soda and a moment of stillness. Some of my favorite memories were after school visits with my grandmother, sitting together and drinking cherry vanilla Dr.Pepper. It was a small way to connect after my long day at school. Those small moments became some of the most meaningful memories of my childhood.
As I got older and started raising my own kids, I realized how fast life moves now. Thirsty Bird Mobile Soda Shop was created to help people slow down for a minute and reconnect with a feeling of nostalgia. My husband, Chris, and I transformed a vintage trailer into a soda shop with the hope that we would create more than fun drinks. We would create an experience for everyone, and we have! As soon as you walk up to our window to order the sounds from the 1950’s and 60’s filling in around you, you can smell the aroma of cherry and fresh limes, and you see the smiling faces of everyone basking in nostalgia, either from an old memory or creating a new one with their family. Thirsty Bird is simple: to help people pause, and feel transported back to a moment that felt happy, comforting, and unforgettable.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’m not sure any road worth traveling is smooth, but it’s always been worth it. When I started Thirsty Bird I knew there would be a learning curve to understanding permitting, health codes, and insurance while homeschooling three kids, and at the time, teaching fitness classes. I had to step out of my comfort zone and take a risk. Most people don’t see behind the scenes of the late nights, the unexpected equipment issues, the research that goes into every product I buy, learning to back up a trailer, and the pressure of being a woman trying to grow a business while still being a fully present mom. I have survived every struggle or hard moment and every single one has made me a smarter business owner.

We’ve been impressed with Thirsty Bird Mobile Soda Shop, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Thirsty Bird is a mobile soda shop built around nostalgia, community, and creating experiences people remember. Whether it’s a school event, sporting event, fundraiser, or private party, we bring the fun and fizz directly to you.

We specialize in handcrafted specialty sodas using quality syrups that avoid color dyes and artificial sweeteners, fun flavor combinations, and customizable drinks that feel both unique and familiar at the same time.

What really sets Thirsty Bird apart is the heart behind it. Anyone can serve you a drink, I’m serving you a personal experience that allows you to relish in the nostalgia for just a little bit longer on the days you are probably the busiest. The majority of my inspiration comes from old school soda shops and the Cars movie, a household favorite.

Brand wise, what I’m most proud of is the community relationships I’ve built. My favorite events are when I get to pull up to a school to serve the staff or my neighborhood sports fields and become part of the families day. Let me tell you, there is something so special about the moment a regular customer comes to order and I already know what they want to drink.

I want readers to know that Thirsty Bird is more than a business to my family, it’s apart of our family. Thirsty Bird is built with love, gratitude, and an ode to the community in Cypress we love so much.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I have a ring I wear on my right hand that has the lyrics to a Doris Day song “Que Sera, Sera” written into it which means “Whatever Will Be, Will Be”. I wear it every day as a reminder that I can’t control everything. Whatever is meant to be, will be and I can only control the effort, attitude, and hard work I bring into everyday.
