Christy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Queenston Salon Studios is a privately owned, luxury brand, Salon and Spa studio facility founded in the year 2020 by Cosmetologists Christy Viator and Maggie Hutto. With over 15 years of combined industry experience and a shared dream and vision of providing beauty professionals an opportunity to experience the amazing benefits of career freedom, the pair united as one. From the construction development plan to the design and execution of all the features in the building and studios, every aspect of QSS is 100% professionally curated with the betterment of all beauty professionals studio rental experience in mind.
We are proud to say that we truly are familiar with every facet of the industry and that utilizing our acquired knowledge is what Queenston Salon Studios is made of, ultimately setting our facilities apart. Starting from the beginning, making our way through the industry, gaining relevant experience, then finally, applying our expertise, is what turned Queenston Salon Studios from a vision into a reality. Between the two of us, we have experience attending and graduating from cosmetology school, obtaining our cosmetology license, and moving on to work a variety of positions within salon and spa facilities such as receptionist, assistant, manager, educator and stylist. We are also experienced and educated on what it takes to branch out away from commission salons to start a salon studio business as an individual. All of this experience and research prepared us to curate the most efficient space possible for salon and spa entrepreneurs. So then became our destiny, Queenston Salon Studios. Proof that with a dream, ambition and a bit of hard work, anything is possible. You can do it too!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any business or entrepreneurial journey, Queenston Salon Studios has definitely come with its learning opportunities and challenges to overcome. Navigating different personalities and making our best attempts to keep all of our members happy has and will always be a learning curve we are excited to take on. We have also learned a lot about construction and design as we have successfully opened two brand new build locations!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

From the construction development plan to the design and execution of all the features in the buildings and studios, every aspect of QSS is 100% professionally curated with the betterment of all beauty professionals studio rental experience in mind.
Today, Maggie & Christy are still the only people in control of QSS with Maggie tackling the property management aspect and Christy in charge of the administrative aspect. We are currently operating two very successful locations within just four years of opening the first. We are proud to say that between the two locations, QSS currently is serving over 70 wonderful members and their clients!
We are passionate about seeing our business through and ensuring we stand out on what is becoming a somewhat saturated business model. We are proud to be a role model in the community and that our peers idolize our business. We are committed to originality and to always keep coming up with fresh, innovative ideas that benefit our Members and our business!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson we have learned thus far is putting people first. We really strive to provide the most unique experience possible for our Members and their guests. We find that taking this approach feels good for us and makes the people we interact with feel seen, heard, & happy. Our goal is for people to believe in the value at Queenston Salon Studios and feel like they are leasing somewhere that is original and innovative.
