Hidden Gems: Meet Cinthia Ortiz of R.E.M Cleaning Service LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cinthia Ortiz

Hi Cinthia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I run a commercial and residential cleaning business. We service the greater houston area as well as the surrounding areas. My journey started in 2016, when I was living paycheck to paycheck and could not make ends meet to provide more for my children in order for them to pursue their dreams in higher education. I decided to take the leap and start my own business and to become my own boss to not only pursue my dreams but help my children pursue theirs. I also wanted to be able to give others the opportunity to provide for their family the same I wanted to do for mine.

I am the middle daughter of hardworking Mexican parents. Since a very young age they instilled in me the value of hard work and perseverance as well as my strong faith in God, which has helped lead me to the success of my business. My parents’ influence is something that has always helped me navigate not only my professional life but my personal life as well.

I am also the mother of three children, 2 girls and 1 boy, who have always fueled me to succeed not only for them but for myself as well. Every day I try to pass down the values my parents passed down to me. This is one of the major reasons I decided to take the leap to start my own business, so that I could show my children that everything is possible when you put your mind to it and work hard day in and day out. Aside from setting an example for my children, I want to be an inspiration to other people, especially other women, to become entrepreneurs.

I am grateful for every opportunity that has presented itself due to my hard work and I constantly strive to better my company and the quality of my work so that my clients are always satisfied

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the challenges i’ve faced as an entrepreneur was having to build my clientele as I was starting up. I had to prove myself to those who took a chance on me and my business. Another challenge I’ve faced is that all of my clients have different expectations and I have to adapt and meet all of them alongside my crew. *

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

I run a commercial and residential cleaning business. We service the greater houston area as well as the surrounding areas. We specialize in post construction cleaning of commercial building such as storefronts as well as make ready once businesses are set to open. Our residential cleaning services focus on routine upkeep of our clients home and personal spaces.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One of my likes of our city is that there is diverse opportunity for employment and that there are always new construction projects underway which helps me expand my business and my clientele. One challenge, not so much a dislike, would be the traffic in our city. It can be challenging because of the amount of time it sometimes takes even if it is a short distance.
