Hi Cortney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Cortney Leishawne. I believe that I don’t have to be this or that. I can be this AND that! God has bless me with an unique ability to serve well in multiple roles. I wear many hats and I wear them well. I am an Entrepreneur, Cannapreneur, Fashionprenuer, Creative and Wellness Influencer. Pretty much, I serve wellness in every space that I am assigned to. I’ve been a nurse for over 13 years. Though, I don’t currently work in that role, I believe that wellness is ingrained in everything that I do. As a Cannaprenuer, I own and operate a Luxury CBD brand (BARA Naturals) of Selfcare and Wellness products. I recently rebranded my online boutique (Shop Virtuously Dope) to CortneyL.co which carries a line of luxury Loungewear. I serve as the Creative Director of The Heart of A Mother, a non-profit that supports the well-being of mothers who have suffered the tragic loss a child. I’m a huge advocate for living well. Therefore, I’m a firm believer that not only should you live well but you should also leave well. As a result, I am happy to announce that I am a Licensed Insurance Producer in the states of TX, LA and GA. With all that I have going on, I can say that this is my wellness season. I am more spiritually, physically, emotionally, mentally and financially well than ever before.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not always been smooth! I was mentally and emotionally drained working as a Nurse and trying to grow my business simultaneously. In 2019, I made the decision to leave my 9-5 as a Nurse Case Manager to grow my business. My business did everything but grow! It was stagnant and I questioned every choice that I made. I had a few sales here and there but not enough to supplement my income or lifestyle. Nevertheless, God kept me. To this day, I don’t know how I survived financially during that time. But, God is faithful.
