Today we’d like to introduce you to Cosha Joseph.
Hi Cosha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I came to Houston in 2018 as a newly licensed as a professional counselor. It was a goal of mine to branch out in a new place to reach my full potential in a new city. My hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, provided me with a lot of experience and amazing opportunities. The city of Baton Rouge molded me. I am a self-driven person, so when I want and desire more, I go for it. I became an author, created programs, assisted and gave back to my community. I wanted to spread my wings and grow as a person and entrepreneur. I always wanted to open a Behavior Health Agency agency in Houston, but fear and personal situations stopped me. However, when I got back to me and decided that there was no more waiting, I put my best foot forward. My husband, family and were very supportive and encouraged me. My husband and I Partnered to bring the Houston area Safe Place Counseling and Consulting, PLLC.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The process was, of course, not smooth. Kinks had to be worked out, and there were many frustrations and even days I wanted to quit. Being in the behavioral health field, starting a business takes a lot on the administrative side. We were working out the kinks in the hiring process and just overall setting up an office where we have good values, good staff, and good services for the clients that we serve.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Safe Place Counseling and Consulting PLLC is a behavioral health/private practice agency. Our mission is to support, educate and provide services to empower families living with the challenges of mental health disorders. We do this by providing a safe place to share stories and find support for others dealing with mental health disorders or caring for a family member with a mental illness and using evidence-based strategies and providing staff training and well-being. Our mission is to implement effective mental health consultation to children, families, and individuals; by facilitating mental health services for all who need them and continuing to strive for excellence in supporting mental health for all. We believe that culturally competent and wellness-focused services will promote an individual’s social-emotional development, prevent the development of mental health challenges, and address social-emotional problems that currently exist. Safe Place Counseling and Consulting PLLC strives to match families with resources to help move them toward a more productive life. It is our conviction to provide our clients with the most advanced innovative evidence-based treatment. We strive to be the preeminent leader of mental health care to create futures for the communities we serve. We consist of Licensed Professional Counseling and Qualified Mental Health Professionals Being able to offer psychotherapy and private practice services and behavioral health sets us apart. We are a one-stop-shop. We are proud of the services we deliver in helping our clients daily. We are continuing to grow and expand the Houston area.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see the mental health industry as more needed as people dismiss the stigma and embrace their issues. With Safe Place Counseling, we will continue to grow as a company to accommodate their needs.
