Hidden Gems: Meet Crystal Pike of Unwritten Chapters Counseling PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Pike.

Hi Crystal, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I hold two master’s degrees one from the University of Houston–Clear Lake in General Psychology, and another from Lamar University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

My journey began in higher education, where I served as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Lone Star College. Teaching sparked my passion for helping people understand themselves and their relationships more deeply, which led me into public education, first as a teacher and later as a school counselor at the junior high and high school levels.

During that time, I felt a growing calling to work with individuals and couples more directly, which inspired me to pursue additional clinical training and licensure. After completing my second master’s degree and successfully passing the National Counselor Exam (NCE), I became a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas.

Today, I’m the founder of Unwritten Chapters Counseling, PLLC, where I help individuals and couples navigate life transitions, strengthen relationships, and rewrite the stories that shape their lives.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all ,my path has been anything but smooth. I’ve worked full-time while earning both of my master’s degrees, completing countless clinical hours, and managing all the demands that come with building a career in mental health. Along the way, I even suffered a major setback a ruptured ACL and torn meniscus but I refused to let it slow me down.

Balancing work, school, recovery, and life wasn’t easy, but it taught me resilience, empathy, and perseverance the same values I bring into my counseling work today. Every challenge reminded me why I chose this field: to help others find their strength even when life doesn’t go according to plan.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Unwritten Chapters Counseling was born from the belief that everyone has a story and that it’s never too late to start rewriting yours.

I specialize in individual and couples therapy, helping clients navigate relationship challenges, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and rediscovering their sense of purpose. I’m especially passionate about marriage and couples counseling, where I use evidence-based approaches like the Gottman Method to help partners rebuild connection, improve communication, and heal emotional distance.

What sets Unwritten Chapters apart is the experience from the moment clients walk in, I want them to feel safe, seen, and understood. The space is designed to feel warm, grounding, and high-end yet approachable, reflecting the calm and clarity we work to create in session.

I’m proud that my brand has become known for its authenticity, emotional depth, and modern-boutique feel. Therapy here isn’t clinical or cold it’s real, collaborative, and deeply personal. My goal is to help clients not just survive the hard chapters, but learn to rewrite them with confidence, self-compassion, and hope.

Whether clients come in seeking clarity, healing, or reconnection, my mission is the same: to help them write the next chapter of their story one they actually want to live.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that being a wife and mom will always come first and that time is our most valuable resource. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle of building a business, finishing degrees, or helping others, but I’ve realized that the moments with the people I love most are the ones that truly matter.

Balancing family life with my professional goals has taught me how to slow down, set boundaries, and be fully present both at home and with my clients. It’s a reminder that success isn’t just about achievement; it’s about creating a life that feels aligned, meaningful, and full of connection.
