Today we’d like to introduce you to Daisy Gire.
Hi Daisy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My background is in accounting and finance, and I spent a few years working in the corporate world, until I took time off to raise my family. Eventually, I wanted to get back into the workforce. I knew I didn’t want to go back into the same corporate routine, so I began to explore work that offered more flexibility and allowed me to balance my family life. I always found myself inclined towards creative expressions, so I would experiment with new cuisines and recipes, transforming and restoring furniture with paint and finishes, and embracing art in its many forms. Over time, I began to admire the vastness of floral design. I started experimenting with various floral textures, forms, and color palettes, seeing the beauty in pulling together different flowers and greenery into harmony. What began as a hobby, turned into a space where I could unplug and channel my creativity to design beautiful floral pieces for myself, my family and friends, and in time, my own business. Thus, Blooms & Boards blossomed from my journey with creative exploration.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Venturing into a new industry was definitely an experience that came with its challenges. In my desire to present the most curated and distinct floral designs, I began to study and understand the intricacies of the floral industry. This included deep dives into creating arrangements, attending floral workshops, and familiarizing myself with the social media landscape. Slowly, I began to put together the pieces of my small business, making it what it is today. With each step of my journey, I keep learning and growing in my craft, and I eagerly look forward to what Blooms & Boards will continue to create!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a floral designer based in Houston, Texas. My team and I create floral arrangements and installations for a range of events, including weddings, corporate galas, baby showers, luncheons, everyday florals, and ongoing subscription services. To put it simply, we create art, with florals. Our flowers are sourced from trusted wholesalers across Houston, ensuring the best quality and freshness. At the heart of my craft is bringing my clients’ vision to life. Open and heartfelt communication with my clients is the foundation of what makes for a beautiful relationship, ensuring each design captures their unique vision. What makes me most proud is seeing the joy and satisfaction in my clients, as they see their events and celebrations come to life in unforgettable experiences.
No two events or clients are ever the same, and that’s what keeps my work exciting. I take the time to understand each client’s style and vision so that every arrangement feels personal and meaningful. Blooms & Boards began as a creative outlet and has grown into a space where art and celebration come together. I feel incredibly grateful to do what I love every day and to keep finding new ways to bring beauty, connection, and creativity to every event I design.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I definitely see the floral industry expanding, as clients really hone in on florals to create ambiance for their events. Flowers add a vibrant, elegant touch to any event, and with every season, new floral trends emerge to elevate the overall design and experience. Some new trends in weddings and events include hanging and ground installations, lush floral arches, and adding an illuminous touch with lanterns and candelabras.
In addition, social media plays more of a role in providing inspiration to both clients and designers in creating floral themes and aesthetics. Most events are also documented and shared on social media, so florals go beyond simply decorating a space, they create an experience. The floral business is limitless and anyone who is passionate about creating with their hands or leading with creative direction has a space in the floral industry.
For me personally, I’m excited to keep growing Blooms & Boards while learning, experimenting, and creating florals that feel personal, creative, and unforgettable!
