Deja, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m 26 years old, I was born in Webster, Texas. I am the Owner of The Maids of Houston, but before starting my Cleaning business I had my own Boutique. I sold Clothing for a little while, then I ended up just selling Shoes and Accessories. I had a store front as well as a online store. During the Pandemic people weren’t really shopping much, so I ended up closing down. I never really liked working a 9-5 I would always quit. I just knew I wanted to be a entrepreneur. I never liked anyone to tell me what I could do, what I could wear. When to wake up. Etc.
One night I had a dream about owning a Cleaning Business. I did some research, and the start up cost was very low to begin. I went to dollar tree and bought $150 worth of cleaning supplies and bought a household vacuum and began looking for people to start cleaning their homes. I went driving around passing out business cards, and paper flyers. Door to door. I ended up using a online website that I could pay for leads. I began getting clients, and if the clients liked their services they would book again. 3 months into the business I was already booked up the entire month. I didn’t have to pay for leads anymore.
I started out cleaning homes alone for 6 months to build my business. Now, I am 9 months into my business with 3 employees.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been easy at all. There were definitely a lot of errors. I’ve never worked as a housekeeper, In fact I’ve never cleaned anyone else’s house but my own. Every day is a learning process while owning a business. Customer service is everything. That’s what I’ve learned.

The Maids of Houston is a Residential, and Commercial cleaning company in Pearland, Texas. We cleaning in Houston, Texas and all Surrounding areas. We offer Cleaning services, Laundry services, Vacation Rentals/ Airbnb services, Organizing services, Decluttering services.
What sets us apart from others is we pay attention to detail. As a cleaning company you always have to make sure everything is cleaned properly. After each clean we always make sure we have 100% customer satisfaction. We charge per square feet and the cost is a flat rate not hourly. We bring all of our own supplies. We only use commercial materials and supplies.
Brand wise I am most proud of all of the social media platforms I utilize to grow so fast.
What matters most to you?
What matters to me most is God, My Family and My Business. Always keep God first because he is in control. My Family second because they always motivate me to win and I love them so much. Last, My business because it may be grow into the Woman that I am today. It made me strong, because plenty of times this cleaning business has made me cry. It’s not for the weak. You have to have strong bones to do it. I just pray for more success.
