My journey began in the vibrant neighborhood of Acres Homes, nestled in the northside area of Houston, where my passion for fashion ignited during my childhood. Eager to stand out as the most stylish kid on the block, my friends and I engaged in spirited dress-off competitions, striving to be the trendsetters on the first day of school. Throughout my middle school and high school years, I drew inspiration from renowned streetwear brands like Stussy, Vans, Obey, Diamond Supply, Supreme, and Hollister.
Driven by a desire to forge my own unique style, I seamlessly blended these influences to create a distinctive fashion identity. This amalgamation of street brands laid the foundation for my personal brand, PEER HIGH Moda, which epitomizes a commitment to high-quality streetwear fashion and the ethos of embracing individuality. I firmly believe that my style sets me apart, resonating with those who appreciate a taste for exceptional street fashion.
My journey took a significant leap when I connected with Bill Bradley, the visionary owner of Blacksolvent, a growth development company. Bill played a pivotal role in catalyzing the launch of my clothing brand, providing invaluable support and guidance. Since then, the trajectory has been remarkably smooth, and the collaboration with Blacksolvent has proven instrumental in turning my passion into a tangible reality.
As I look forward to the official release of my brand on January 27th, marked by a dynamic pop-up and car meet event hosted in collaboration with Blacksolvent, I am thrilled to embark on this exciting chapter of 2024. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Reflecting on my journey, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. One significant hurdle that I faced was a prolonged period of procrastination and a struggle with self-belief. There were times when self-doubt crept in, casting shadows on my aspirations and causing delays in taking decisive actions towards building my brand.
The challenge of overcoming procrastination and fostering self-confidence proved to be a formidable obstacle. It required a deep, introspective journey to understand and address the root causes of these struggles. Breaking free from the cycle of doubt demanded a commitment to self-discovery and a shift in mindset.
Confronting these internal challenges allowed me to unlock my true potential and rekindle the passion for my venture. Recognizing that belief in oneself is the bedrock of any entrepreneurial endeavor, I sought support and guidance from mentors, friends, and collaborators who played a crucial role in bolstering my confidence.
