Hidden Gems: Meet Dr. Chanel Fields of Fields and Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Chanel Fields.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
“Fields & Jackson” was born from my desire to honor my mother and celebrate the rich culture she passed down to me after losing her to Breast Cancer. When she transitioned, I inherited a treasure trove of her cookware, kitchenware, and handwritten recipes. Using them made me feel connected to my roots. The traditions, flavors, and stories that shaped me. . .

However, during a visit to a popular kitchenware store, I realized something was missing. The shelves were full, but nothing reflected the cultures I grew up with or the legacy I was trying to preserve. That moment planted the seed for “Fields & Jackson.” I wanted to create a brand that blended cultural appreciation with cooking, and creates space for community, connection, and heritage.

As I began styling tablescapes with my mother’s china, stemware, silverware, and cookware, I found myself naturally mixing the traditional pieces I inherited with more modern elements. Cooking with my family’s seasoned cast iron and diverse cookware felt like cooking with their spirit right beside me.
“Fields & Jackson” is my tribute to my Creole heritage and the strong women who raised me. Every collection reflects a celebration of culture, storytelling, and tradition. And, I want to invite others to feel at home, seen, and inspired in their own kitchens.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building “Fields & Jackson” has been a journey filled with purpose, but also plenty of growing pains. One of the biggest challenges has been sourcing and procuring high-quality products. Excellence is the standard for me, not the exception. Finding companies who meet our 5-point vetting system and also align with my vision has been an ongoing process. I refuse to put anything in front of my customers that I wouldn’t proudly use in my own kitchen, and that level of quality control takes time, patience, and a lot of trial and error.

Another challenge has been stepping into an industry where I haven’t really seen anyone doing what I’m doing — especially as a small, self-funded business. Most cookware brands operating at the level I aspire to are backed by huge teams and deep pockets, and they’re structured for B2B relationships with retailers, restaurants, networks and culinary institutions. I’m building that kind of infrastructure from scratch, on my own, while still maintaining the heart and cultural integrity of the brand.

Navigating that as a one-woman operation has stretched me in every way. I’m learning about global supply chains, understanding minimum order quantities, negotiating with vendors who are used to working with massive brands, and making sure every investment is strategic. It’s been challenging, but it’s also been deeply rewarding. Every obstacle has pushed me to grow, refine my vision, and stand even more firmly in why “Fields & Jackson” exists in the first place.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Fields and Jackson?
“Fields & Jackson” is my love letter to family, heritage and the art of gathering. I created this brand to celebrate the beauty of cooking and hosting through a culturally rich lens. One that reflects the homes, traditions, and flavors I grew up with.

We specialize in curated cookware, bakeware, and hosting essentials that feel elevated but still personal. People know me for blending luxury with heritage. I source pieces that are not only functional, but also look stunning on your table and tell a story. My Dutch ovens, glassware, and bakeware are all intentionally sourced with quality as the standard, not the goal.

What sets “Fields & Jackson” apart is that we’re not just selling kitchenware: we’re celebrating culture. I want people to feel seen, inspired, and connected when they cook or set their tables with our pieces.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that “Fields & Jackson” has stayed true to its roots. Every collection honors my Creole heritage and the women who helped raise me. And hearing customers say, “this reminds me of home,” means everything to me.

For anyone discovering us, just know this: “Fields & Jackson” is for the cultured cook. The person who loves beautiful things, meaningful gatherings, and food that tells a story. We offer cookware, stemware, and even B2B partnerships for chefs, boutiques, and hospitality groups.

At the heart of it all, my mission is simple: to help people create moments that feel like home.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that most people don’t know about me is that I never planned to start a cookware brand. I was actually deep in the world of education leadership, and “Fields & Jackson” was born from grief, healing, and wanting to stay connected to my mother. What started as me cooking and making food and wine pairings with her pots just to feel close to her became a full brand rooted in culture and legacy.
