Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Ho. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Our founder Eric has always dream of being a chef ever since he was a kid. At the age of 18, he started working as a kitchen helper back in his home country and then Immigrated to the United States in 2005. In the states, he has worked in different restaurants and different position in order to sharpen his skills as a chef. After being a chef for 15 years, in 2017, he finally opened his first restaurant, Tamashi Ramen and Sush located at 1106 silber rd.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In terms of skills and products: Our founder once told us back in the day, before he started his own business, during his day off, he would be doing experiment making the broth by buying ingredients and cook in his small apartment kitchen.
He has failed so many times trying to perfect the broth. At one point, he burns a hole in the stove cause the constantly cooking. (Yes, the stove and not the pot)
He has attended ramen-making courses to learn more about ramen and its’ making.
In term of collecting funds to start his small business, he used to work long hours during days and weekends. After getting off from his work in restaurant nighttime, he would be driving uber late night in order to make a few more bucks.
We’ve been impressed with Tamashi Ramen Sushi, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Tamashi is a ramen and sushi restaurant. The word Tamashi means soul. Our founder chose this word is because he wants people to know and taste the food where he pour his heart and soul in it.
Tamashi specialize in ramen. One of our most popular dish on the menu is our Tamashi’s Menn. It is a shrimp-based ramen with a touch of southeast Asia flavor added to it, and it is served with pork chashu, grilled shrimp, soft-boiled egg, bean sprouts, green onions, and scallions.
We have always appreciated our community for supporting us. Therefore, every year on Thanksgiving Eve, we give thanks back to our community by offering free ramen or sushi with no purchase necessarily, 2022 was our fifth consecutive year in hosting this event.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Founder’s wifey is one of his biggest supporters. From the day our founder decided to start his own business one day, they both worked and saved hard to make this dream comes true. His family members and siblings to help a lot when first started. They help to renovate the restaurant, run the restaurant, take cares of the customer. You can call them pioneers of tamashi.
Understanding employees are the assets of the company; he appreciates the hard work of everyone in the team. Leading the team to the right directions and always work as a team despite of his title. Would not have gone so far without the hard work of the entire tamashi team in past 5 years.
