Hi Jalanta , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I had the privilege of watching my dad bake, and it was during these moments that my love for baking began to take shape.  As I grew older, I started experimenting with baking on my own, trying out different recipes and techniques. I began by baking for friends and family on special occasions, from birthdays to holidays. The joy and satisfaction I felt when they praised my desserts were unparalleled. Their encouragement and positive feedback fueled my desire to improve and expand my skills. Each compliment and smile inspired me to bake more, pushing me to perfect my craft.

Eventually, my hobby evolved into something more substantial. With the unwavering support of my husband, I decided to take a leap of faith and turn my passion into a business. Together, we launched Sweets By Smith, a venture born out of love and dedication. The journey was not without its challenges, but with each hurdle, my resolve grew stronger. The support system I had in my family and friends, combined with the growing base of loyal customers, made every effort worthwhile.

Sweets By Smith quickly gained a reputation for providing beautifully decorated desserts for all types of special occasions. From weddings to baby showers, our treats became a staple in many celebrations. The trust and love from our customers have been a constant source of motivation. Seeing people enjoy what I create is one of the most rewarding aspects of this journey.

Trying new recipes and taking classes to perfect techniques can be both exciting and challenging. It involves a constant process of learning, experimenting, and sometimes failing, which can be frustrating. Each new recipe is an opportunity to explore different flavors and methods pushing the boundaries of comfort and skill. Classes offer structured learning and expert guidance, but they also require dedication and time. The struggle lies in balancing the desire to innovate with the patience to master foundational skills, all while staying motivated through the ups and downs of the learning process. Ultimately, this journey is rewarding as it enhances creativity, expands the skill set, and keeps the passion for baking alive.

Sweets By Smith is a home bakery that offers a delightful selection of baked goods and chocolate-dipped treats. The menu features a variety of delicious items, including cupcakes, cake pops, and a range of chocolate-dipped specialties like strawberries, pretzels, and apples. While I’m known for my chocolate-dipped treats, my favorite item to make is cupcakes.

My passion for baking and dedication to quality shine through in every treat, ensuring they taste and look good. This commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed by my clients. I enjoy the loyalty of a growing base of returning customers who appreciate the consistent quality and delicious flavors they can always count on. It’s about balancing innovation with what you know works well, giving yourself room to experiment without straying too far from your core strengths.
