Hidden Gems: Meet James Briggs of Briggs IT Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Briggs. 

Hi James, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been involved with tech since 1981, when our family purchased a Radio Shack TRS-80 computer. I knew from that day at age 8 that this was what I wanted to do with my life. After getting married in 1995, I found someone to mentor me and began training to become an IT professional. In 2003 I took my first professional full-time IT job as an onsite repair technician working with Dell. From there, I went on to work with AT&T and Time Warner Cable. In 2012 I moved to Houston to work for an IT Services company and stayed until making that fateful decision to go out on my own in 2016. I have learned a lot and hope to continue to grow my business to where I can become a first-class employer. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggles are a natural part of life and business. Our family has struggled financially over the years. My wife has struggled physically with illnesses, including cancer. When first starting my own business, I learned that there were MANY things I did not know. Fortunately, I found a group of dedicated networking professionals who continue to assist me and my business. They are each professionals in their own businesses, and we work cooperatively to help each other grow our businesses. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Briggs IT Services LLC?
We provide a full line of IT support services to our customers. Unlike other IT service companies, we can customize our offerings to each customer’s unique needs rather than force everyone into a one-size fits all model. Our core competencies are Outsourced Help Desk, Network Administration, and Onsite Technician. We are very transparent about our pricing and honest about our motivations. We do not hold our customers’ hostage. We help our customers purchase what they need then we maintain and support it. Our customers OWN THEIR OWN TECHNOLOGY. 

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My family matters most. They are the reason I do what I do. They are the reason I get up in the morning and why I fight to succeed. My goal is to build a business that will support my family financially even after I am gone.
