Hidden Gems: Meet Janae Kellogg of Body By Janae

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janae Kellogg.

Hi Janae, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career as a personal trainer right out of college in 2010. I have a degree in Kinesiology and decided I wanted to be a personal trainer. My first job was at the YMCA in Coon rapids, MN. I’m actually from MN and just moved to Seabrook June 2020!

Shortly after I started personal training I started teaching group fitness classes. I never thought I’d want to teach group classes, but I found that I really loved it! My biggest dream I set back then was to have my own business as a personal trainer. I’ve always loved to learn, and things just evolved. I took my 200 hour yoga teacher training through CorePower Yoga and started working there as manager on duty and taught classes, got my holistic health coach certification, and then started training clients at an independent gym called Train Your Way Fitness in St. Louis Park, MN. This was when I really started to focus on building my own clientele of clients as an independent trainer.

I had another dream- to move to a warm state down south. So I made plans to move to Texas, moved out of my apartment in the twin cities right before covid hit. I stayed with my parents for a few months before we drove me down to seabrook and moved me in! It was a tough time because I moved across the country, by myself, lol, during a pandemic, but I made it. Now I train clients in person and online, teach online fitness classes from home, and continue to build my online coaching business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh gosh no. In some ways, when I look back, everything aligned to get me here. It’s funny how that happens. Every job I had before today was setting me up to be an entrepreneur. But it hasn’t been easy. Building your own business is hard work. Clients come and go, that’s the name of the game when you’re in fitness as a profession. It was hard to move to a new city in a new state and have to start from scratch too.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Body By Janae ?
I wear many hats, but my business focuses on me as a personal trainer and fitness/health coach. I help people learn how to eat right, train right, and create the mindset needed to reach their goals. I work with a lot of women who have a poor relationship with food and their body. I struggled with an eating disorder most of my life, so part of my mission is to help women heal from their own struggles and become confident and find peace with food. I focus a lot on mindset, because if we don’t address what’s going on in our heads, we will never be able to change what’s on the outside.

I offer personal training, nutrition coaching, online coaching, and weave mindset coaching into all my services. I will help you learn to love yourself so you can create the body you want.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t really believe in luck to be honest. I believe that if you work hard, stay positive, and are in the right energy, good things will happen. Things always work out for me (even when I’m not sure they will) because I follow my heart and passions. When you do that, things always fall into place.
