Hidden Gems: Meet Karla Weeden of A Perfect Day Event

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karla Weeden.

Hi Karla, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
A Perfect Day Event started officially one year ago by two sisters, Karla and Kamecia. It seemed that our friends and families were always asking us to assist them in their birthday parties, baby showers, wedding and other celebrations. Then COVID hit and we begin to view the world differently. We quickly realized although we enjoy our corporate day jobs, we were expendable. Many people asked how we were going to start an event planning company in the middle of a global pandemic. We didn’t have all the answers but we knew we both were hard workers and had tons of faith. Our first official event would come a few weeks later after deciding to take the leap and that was the grand opening of a salon, The Complete Beauty Bar. That event further solidified our decision to step out on faith. You may be asking yourself how we chose our name. That too was very simple. Everyone who is looking to have a celebration, no matter what it is, just wants the day to be perfect for them and that is what we strive to offer…A Perfect Day!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Event planning is something we truly enjoy and doesn’t feel like work. . The road to entrepreneurship is not always smooth and we leaned on the relationships of close friends and families who own their own businesses to help guide us. We are always learning new ways of doing things. Because we had never been business owners, the business side of things had to be quickly learned along the way. It certainly helped that between the 2 of us, we have an accounting background and corporate management background.

As you know, we’re big fans of A Perfect Day Event . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a full service event planning company. Our services includes corporate events, fundraisers, baby and bridal showers, weddings, birthday parties and any just because celebration you may have in mind.

What’s next?
In the future, we hope to plan larger events and events that will give back to the community. Our largest event to date has been 400 and we certainly look forward to planning more of those. We have recently partnered with Habitat for Humanity to assist them in their fundraiser and we are excited about that. It is always rewarding when we can do what we love for good causes.
