Today we’d like to introduce you to Kassidy Searles.
Hi Kassidy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Beaumont and moved to Houston at a very young age, Houston has been my home ever since. I am studying at the University of Houston to receive her bachelor’s in Interior Architect and a minor in Business Administration. However, my journey to Interior Design was very unconventional and started way before my degree. I started by working closely with the real estate industry. During my time working in real estate, I project managed the home fix-n-flip and staged homes. This is also when I began developing my passion for photography. I began photographing my work.
Once I got my first internship at a Designer Furniture Store, her foot in the fashion industry has grown exponentially. She gained further experience by staging furniture stores and helping clients locate unique furniture for their residences. Not too long after, I opened a professional organization business named Sorting Sisters. Sorting Sisters is rapidly growing in Houston and has partnered with Scorpion Design Firm to offer exclusive organization services along with full-scale interior design services. I always continue my passion for designing and in 2020 I opened this exclusive firm to atone to all my client’s needs. As I continue to follow my passions for design I have picked up skills such as seamstry and flipping unique furniture pieces. This is just another reason how my firm sets itself apart from other. I continues to follow my passion for helping other by assisting them in creating beautiful sanctuaries for them to call their own.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Initially, I started working in the law field after working there for a little over a year. I was very disappointed that it wasn’t the career choice that I wanted for myself. I was completely unhappy and I knew that there was more for me. After taking almost a year off of school, I finally made the decision, it was not quick or easy but I made the decision to pursue a career in interior design. This is something that my family was not in agreement with and still sometimes expresses that to me. Going into this field is one of the riskiest things I’ve probably done in my entire life but I know with every bit of me this is what I’m passionate and what I was put on this earth to do. So through all the challenges, I remind myself that there is a reason why God has called me to this field and I’ve also never been happier.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
As a child, I grew up with three other sisters. We loved playing dress-up and decorating our individual rooms. I vividly remember on my 16th birthday, my mom bringing me to Hobby Lobby to redecorate my entire bedroom. It is something I loved every minute of and will always cherish.
