Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Estrada.
Hi Katherine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a single mom of three children, I knew that I needed to support my family, after the pandemic hit and ruined my sewing business, I knew that I had to figure something else out, I had worked for a medical insurance company, but I got laid off, and I was inspired by Vanesa Amaro on Tiktok to pursue housekeeping. But my story didn’t just start with my sewing business. I am a trafficking survivor, a former addict, and I was pregnant and homeless with my twins, and living in an out of homeless shelter. So I had to get through a lot of gutters and rock-bottoms to get where I am today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was definitely not a smooth road when I was lost in my addiction, but after I got my life together, my goals have been very clear-cut, and I have set out to reach them no matter what they are. I mentioned in the previous question some issues I faced and had to work through. I was a teen mom, and my second child passed away, and I basically lost my mind after she passed away. I couldn’t take care of myself, my son had to live with his dad, and I was really just using drugs to try and die. I didn’t find another meaning for life, until a little bit before I got pregnant with my twins. I had someone help me get clean, and then shortly after I got clean, I got pregnant. They were sent to save me. My son and I have a great relationship now, and now I not only take care of my children, but I take care of my mother as well. And I’m happy.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nada Spot Missed?
Right now I do housekeeping, I specialize in detailing, organization, but I would like to get into the field of post Mortem clean up. Once my business gets going, and I get a little bit financially stable, I would like to start donating to the Sacred Heart Church in McAllen Texas like my previous business was doing before. But not only that, I want my business to be involved in charity work, I would love to help any single mother or single parent who is struggling, maybe expand my business where I can hire employees, I just want to be able to help people not just myself and my family but to show others that they can get on their feet, but there is a better way. I think what sets me apart from others is that I don’t say no to the tougher jobs. There are a lot of housekeepers, from my clients’ feedback, that wouldn’t help them do their laundry, that they didn’t feel comfortable with them in their house, and I make it a point to be very personable with my clients, so that they know that they can trust me in their home.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
When I was in elementary, my aunt Carol signed me out of school and took me to the beach. She didn’t even tell my mom, it was like our little secret. She would do this like once a month, lol.
