Hi Katherine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I always loved crafting and drawing when I was younger. I would always come up with some kind of craft project whether it was at home or school. During the pandemic, I was always on TikTok and YouTube. I would always see successful young entrepreneurs. It inspired me so much. I knew I could do the same. So I put myself to the test. I began doing research and thinking to myself, what could I do that I will enjoy and is trending? I thought, why not jewelry? It involves cute trendy pieces and it also involves crafting. Two things I enjoy!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road. During the pandemic, I had a baby the same month I first heard about covid-19, March 2020. I was also a teen mom. I had online school. It was hard taking care of a newborn baby while having online school and a small business. Another struggle I dealt with was trying to be consistent. The most important thing in a business is to be consistent. Sometimes I felt like giving up but I knew if I kept going I knew I could reach success. People think running a business is easy but it is not. I was my own photographer, social media manager, and content creator. I had to sacrifice time in order to be able to do what was necessary for my business. It was hard but I loved every process of it.
