Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy & Victoria Ward.

Kathy & Victoria Ward

Hi Kathy & Victoria , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a Mom of a daughter with IDD I have been privileged to understand the need for support & value for the individual along with the Mom or caregiver to connect & build spiritual family & community. Their God given talents & gifts are discovered to serve others as they are transformed to be a Light in the Body of Christ. Another Mom & I felt called to establish Uniquely HIS Ministries, a Non-Profit, to connect & build community within community in a Christian environment. UHM women grow in Gods word, make beautiful handcrafted gifts & minister through various outreaches to our community & beyond. Our vision is to establish supported Christ-centered homes for individuals with IDD to foster independence who choose to live in a place of their own. Uniquely HIS Ministries is in its 6th year of ministry. This has blessed us more than those we serve. When you are in Gods Will it’s a beautiful thing. Wonderful volunteers have come along side of us & many who pray for us behind the scenes. We are so grateful for the support of those who pray, partner & volunteer as community is developed & Uniquely HIS continues to grow. Our guiding scripture is Psalm 139:14 “ I praise you because I am fearfully & wonderfully made.”
God called me to leave a career & stay at home with my family. Through HIS strength & perseverance I have learned HE is often equipping us. My daughter Victoria has worked diligently to open doors for individuals transitioning to adulthood for those with IDD. This desire was inspired from being a sibling of a sister with IDD. To live it is to know it! “Knowing our people “ has been an invaluable insight to serve well.. Victoria recently obtained her doctorate with her research supporting expanding opportunities & services for those w/IDD. Her sister & others are Unique women who are finding their place. The mission & vision of UHM is coming to fruition through the compassion & love of Gods people.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been filled with blessings and opportunities for growth. We are thankful for the churches that opened their doors to give us a safe and welcoming space to share Uniquely His Ministries. God also brought another mother, whose daughter has disabilities, to stand with us in prayer and help establish the foundation—such a divine connection.

A key part of our journey has been encouraging others to see individuals with IDD as valued adults with unique talents and gifts. Watching those gifts emerge has softened hearts and inspired deeper understanding.

We continue to meet each person where they are, offering new supports and creative methods to help them discover and develop their God-given abilities.

As we pursue long-term goals like Christ-centered homes, we remain filled with hope. God has faithfully opened doors, and we trust He will continue guiding the partnerships and provisions needed to carry this vision forward.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Uniquely His Ministries is a Christian charitable organization dedicated to connecting and empowering women with IDD as valued adults in the Body of Christ. Our mission is to help them discover, develop, and serve through the talents and gifts God has placed within them, all while building life-giving community together.

We focus on spiritual growth—learning God’s Word, growing in prayer, and encouraging each woman to live as a reflection of Christ’s love. But our ministry doesn’t stop there. We actively serve others through outreach projects that share the gospel in practical, meaningful ways.

Uniquely HIS is also a place for mothers, caregivers, volunteers, and women with IDD to build authentic relationships. We take time to know each person individually, recognizing the unique strengths, abilities, and God-given purpose they carry.

What sets our ministry apart is our commitment to giving those who are often overlooked a true seat at the table—a place where they are seen, valued, and included. We are most proud of cultivating a culture where every woman knows she belongs, where her gifts matter, and where she can grow in Christ alongside a supportive and loving community.

We want readers to know that our heart is to create spaces of dignity, purpose, and spiritual growth, and to continue expanding opportunities—including our long-term vision for Christ-centered homes for women with IDD. Everything we do is centered on reflecting God’s love and helping each woman shine in the fullness of who He created her to be.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important qualities behind our success are rooted in God’s grace and mercy. Everything we do flows from abiding in Uniquely His Ministries’ Statement of Faith, grounded in God’s Word and prayer. We trust that the Lord uses all things for good when we submit to Him, and we have learned to rest in His perfect timing.

A willing heart is essential, one that allows God to continually shape, refine, and redirect us so we can do things His way, not our own. We also believe in being a voice for the voiceless whenever God gives the opportunity.

We know that opposition will come, so perseverance and staying true to the call are vital. Through it all, we strive to carry an attitude of gratitude, recognizing God’s faithfulness at every step.

We depend on the generous donations & partnerships of wonderful volunteers & people of God. If you would like to donate or know more about this ministry please go to uniquelyhisministries.org
