Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Edwards.
Katie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began almost 12 years ago now as a young girl who found her way into the heart of acting and modeling.
Over the years I shifted into different areas of the industry finally landing my focus on modeling. It’s my first love and I simply just keep doing it. Not out of stress to make it my end all be all, but simply because it brought me joy. It isn’t an easy industry to stay in but when you truly love it, the focus is on having fun, which is always easy.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
What successful person has had a smooth road, really? Nothing is ever smooth, when I graduated high school my plan was to be in LA or New York, I looked at schools there, interviewed with agencies, and had my portfolio ready. But it, unfortunately, wasn’t feasible financially and that’s where I found myself feeling that all was lost. I was focused on one career move for years and now I had to think up something else and fast. I look at schools in Texas and applied for every scholarship I could, but I didn’t know what to study.
I knew I loved fashion so I made my decision pleased on that, and majored in Fashion Design & Fashion Merchandising. I had to slow down my modeling and acting and focus on what I considered my plan B. Halfway through my junior year, I realized I was no longer happy, my life got uprooted, I moved and COVID hit. Coming out of COVID I practically had a fresh start. I realized in a single moment I can do whatever I put my mind to and that moment for me was when my dad responded to my frustrations with “stop working for free and make it happen.”
As you know, we’re big fans of Marie Gaudin Modeling. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I myself am an active model, I have taken my time to learn the craft, the etiquette, the business, and how to help others be successful. I am launching my coaching and mentor business for men and women, boys and girls of any age who want to begin their career or advance their careers.
I am known in every area I work for my skill as well as my tactful manner. I strive to teach others not only skills but all the secrets in between that no one tells you without feeding anyone a pipe dream. I aim to ground my students in the reality of where they will best succeed and tailor their training to that. I offer a full 6-12 month program or single coaching sessions.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk-taking is one of the most important aspects of any successful business. In my modeling career I was quitting all of my jobs to focus on modeling full-time, booking work trips to new places without any direction or network in the area, I could come out at a loss or a huge gain.
Prepare for the worst and expect the best. You never get anything without trying. There are coaches all over for modeling, but one thing that’s different about me and my programs? I’ll tell you straight how it is. Nothing is impossible, it’s only as hard as you make it.
