Today we’d like to introduce you to Keisha Thomas.
Hi Keisha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We started our Airbnb business in Southeast Texas with a simple goal: to create clean, comfortable, and reliable short-term stays in an area that was underserved but constantly in demand. What began as a single property quickly showed us how many guests (consisting of traveling professionals, families, and visitors to the region) were looking for something better than a standard hotel.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Early on, we faced steep learning curves with pricing, regulations, and managing guest expectations. Unexpected maintenance issues, last-minute cancellations, and finding reliable cleaners were constant challenges. We also had to learn how to scale without sacrificing quality, which took time and a few mistakes. Each setback forced us to improve our systems, communication, and contingency planning. Those struggles ultimately made the business more resilient and helped us build a stronger, more consistent guest experience.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our business is a locally owned Airbnb and short-term rental company based in Southeast Texas, focused on providing dependable, high-quality stays for guests who want more comfort and flexibility than a traditional hotel. We manage and operate thoughtfully designed homes that cater to refinery workers, traveling professionals, families, and visitors needing both short and extended stays.
What sets us apart is our attention to detail and our systems-driven approach to hospitality. We specialize in clean, well-maintained properties with practical layouts, comfortable furnishings, and amenities that support real life, whether that’s a fully equipped kitchen, reliable Wi-Fi for work, or easy self check-in. Consistency is a core value for us; guests know exactly what to expect when they book one of our homes.
We’re especially known for clear communication and responsiveness. From booking to checkout, we focus on making the experience simple and stress-free. Because we’re local, we’re able to respond quickly to issues, maintain strong relationships with vendors, and adapt our homes to the unique needs of the Southeast Texas market.
Brand-wise, we’re most proud of the trust we’ve built with repeat guests and partners. Our growth has come largely through referrals and positive reviews, which reflects our commitment to quality over volume. We want readers to know that our brand is built on reliability, thoughtful hospitality, and long-term value for our guests, our properties, and the communities we serve.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my most meaningful childhood experiences was growing up in Beaumont, Texas, in a close-knit, two-parent household alongside my older brother and younger sister. My mother was a nurse with a genuine passion for helping others, and her commitment to service had a lasting influence on me. Inspired by her example, I pursued a career in nursing as well, driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference and positive impact in people’s lives.
As I grew older, that same sense of purpose expanded in new ways. While supporting my daughters as they each launched their own businesses, I discovered a growing passion for entrepreneurship. That experience opened my eyes to the possibilities of building something sustainable and impactful beyond my clinical career.
When Vanessa and I later upgraded our home, we saw an opportunity to turn our former residence into a long-term investment. With guidance from family members already experienced in real estate and short-term rentals (including Vanessa’s sister-in-law, a realtor, and her brother Chief Amond who successfully operated Airbnbs) we were able to gain valuable insight and structure. Their mentorship helped us approach the venture strategically and confidently, ultimately laying the foundation for our own Airbnb business.
