Hidden Gems: Meet Kristi Winfree of Legacy Transactions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Winfree.

Kristi Winfree

Hi Kristi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2014, I decided to get my real estate license and become a real estate agent. However, I kind of always felt like being an agent wasn’t necessarily the right path for me, but I was going to try and see if I liked it. When I got into the business, I discovered I really loved Real Estate, but being an agent wasn’t what I really enjoyed doing; it was helping other agents that brought me joy. My second and third year in real estate I trained and coached other agents and then during my third year I decided to transition to becoming a Transaction Coordinator. I discovered I was really good at the details and documents, so this was a natural fit for me. In 2017 I opened up Legacy Transactions and we have been thriving ever since. I started with just a few agents and now we work with over 100 agents all over the city of Houston and a couple outside of the Houston area as well. I have a team of six. Four other transaction coordinators, in addition to myself, and one virtual assistant.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s never really a smooth road in business. I’ve definitely had my ups and downs, but I feel that they’ve made me stronger and a better businessperson because of them. When I first got into the business, I didn’t have many systems or models to follow, so I created my business from scratch. Now I have amazing systems and processes and actually have built out an online course to teach other people how to become a Transaction Coordinator and follow those same systems and processes. I also didn’t know how to manage and lead people, and over the past few years, as my team has grown, I’ve really developed that skill. That’s one skill that I will always be developing because I don’t think it’s something that you can necessarily ever master, but you can always be better.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Legacy Transactions?
Legacy Transactions is a transaction coordination business where we specialize in helping real estate agents manage the details, documents, and deadlines of a real estate transaction. The real estate agent hires us once they get an executed contract, and then we are the essential point of communication between the agents, title company, lender, and clients, making sure everything is running smoothly. I believe what sets us apart is that we are adamant about providing Raving Fan service to our agents and their clients so that their clients will refer them to their friends and family, and our agents will be so pleased with our service that they will refer us to other Realtors. Our number one priority is communication and making sure that all of the I’s are dotted and Ts are crossed so the client will leave the closing table saying they had an amazing transaction. I think what I’m most proud of about our brand is that we have created a name for ourselves in the real estate community in our area, and our business has grown mainly by referral. Our contract-to-close service is paid at closing, and it really frees up our agents’ time so they can spend more time doing the money-making activities in their business and also go home and enjoy their evening with their family rather than doing paperwork and responding to emails in the evenings.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
They can schedule a consultation with me on our website at https://legacytransactions.com/contact-us. The biggest thing they can do to support us, aside from working with us, is to refer us to the agents they know.
