Hidden Gems: Meet Kristina Station of Skin Haus Day Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Station

Hi Kristina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey in falling in love with skincare started very early. I remember doing DIY skin care potions and causing my skin to break out horribly. My mom started me on Proactiv, and I fell in love with results of self-care and taking care of my skin. Fast forward, I always had an entrepreneurial spirit and started my first business in high school selling custom made crafts. Upon graduating college, I wanted to open my own business but wasn’t sure what direction to go in. I graduated from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia with my bachelor’s in business management and minor in Supply Chain Management. Supply Chain seemed to more of my interest at the time, but I quickly realized it wasn’t my chosen path. In a short time after COVID happened, I relocated to Houston, TX. I later discovered what an esthetician was after getting my first facial and seeing amazing results for myself. I was so inspired that someone can make a living out of skincare. I knew immediately that was the career for me! It was the perfect combination of beauty, helping my clients feel beautiful and confident, being a safe place for them to learn, unwind, and ask all the questions. While being on lockdown, I started my very own body care company, Kmour Essentials, selling all organic body butters and shea sugar scrubs. I wanted to gain more knowledge on skincare ingredients and how to properly treat the skin, so my mother encouraged me to attend Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Houston. Shortly after, my mom passed away, and I was determined to attend Aveda. I attended school back in the fall of 2022. I decided to use my pain as motivation to continue to push forward and give my all into becoming a successful esthetician.

After graduating, I worked shortly at a medical spa in League City and learned a lot. I also faced many adversities, but God had bigger plans for me. I decided to step out on faith and open Skin Haus Day Spa, where luxury meets skincare on October 9, 2023. As the journey of becoming a business owner began, I have had to face many challenges but it’s so rewarding. I love being able to educate my clients on how to prioritize their skin health and help them feel confident in their own skin. I also adore being a place of safety where my clients can escape, relax, and heal. I love what I do, I love my clients and I am grateful to be a part of the esthetics community. One of the best decisions I’ve made yet!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
During my journey of spa ownership, no, it has not been a smooth road haha. Really wouldn’t make much of an interesting story if everything just fell into place, right? I’m not exaggerating when I say the whole journey has practically been an up-and-down. At first, it was a smooth path because I had saved all my money and started my own business after quitting my job at a medical spa. Building clientele was my biggest struggle. I created a marketing plan to stay consistent and put in the work; then those bad days started getting better over time. I just kept telling myself anything worth having, you must work for it nonstop. I encourage others that if you have a dream never give up and trust the process.
