Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Beatty.
Hi Krystal, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am Krystal, owner of My Fresh Fusions, a healthy meal prep and catering company. I am a nurse by trade and a healthy food enthusiast by fate. Hailing from Kentucky and traveling across the states while working as a registered nurse for 11 years, I recognized the need for more nutritional education and food availability to patients with certain health issues.
Armed with a passion for health promotion, a desire to share knowledge gained, and a love for food myself, I decided to develop a company that would provide nourishing and palatable options to the community. As well as the education on why this nutrition is needed.
From there, My Fresh Fusions, LLC. was birthed; a healthy meal preparation and catering company that offers nutrient-dense entrees, fusing fresh ingredients with flavor preserving techniques. Nutritional nursing consultations are also offered to educate and help clients meet their dietary health goals, based on lifestyle, medical diagnoses, current medication regimen, etc.
What started as a covid project and a way of paying homage to my late Grandparents, I developed Gramps Garden. This peaceful setting of beauty serves not only as a contribution to mental health, but provides fresh ingredients, grown with love, for all the dishes I prepare for my clients.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, not even! I started this company in August of 2018 and its been anything but linear in growth and development. What began as a preparing few meals a week for friends and myself, quickly grew up to 100 meals a week. What a blessing! The hurdles came when I began to outgrow my one-bedroom apartment, paired with a lack of a business plan. Upon moving into my house, I knew I did not want to cook there or have strangers come there for pick up. So I put the business on pause and began to get the legalities in place so that I could work out of a commercialized kitchen. I also sought out a business advisor. During that process, Covid hit and put everything on pause. Then I acquired a new job, which shifted my focus entirely.
In January of 2022, I decided to reopen and go full time with the business. It has been a challenging ride to understand business principles in this current market, especially coming from 10 years in healthcare. Also, learning what is best to outsource so that I remain working at the top of my license. I quickly learned I cannot do this all by myself.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is My Fresh Fusions, a healthy meal preparation and catering company. We also offer nutritional nursing consultations and educational classes such has how to meal prep and create a balanced meal. We specialize in creating nutrient filled meals, that do not skip out on flavor. Each entree will include 4-5 oz of a lean protein, 1 cup of fresh vegetables and 1/2 cup of complex carbs.
Being a nurse-owned business, we are equipped to serve and educate the whole person on a recommended nutritional dietary regimen. In consideration of current health conditions and/or medication regimens.
We are most proud of how we grow our own herbs and spices that are used to season our meals. We also use little to no salt in our meals, so they are all considered low sodium.
If you’re interested in booking a nutritional consultation, we are happy to discuss how our meals can help you adapt a healthier lifestyle. This can be via purchasing our meals, showing you how to choose better options when going out to eat and/or how to prepare your own.
What are your plans for the future?
Our short term plans include hiring staff to help in the kitchen, with administrative duties and during events. Adding merchandise for purchase such as seasonings and ebooks, creating membership and monthly plans, and preparing meals inside of a commercialized kitchen. I would also like to further develop out the educational class curriculum and add on another nurse/nutritionist to help teach.
Long term plans include a YouTube channel and a brick and mortar. This will house our own commercialized kitchen for meal prep and catering in the back, and a space for classes and consultations in the front.
