Today we’d like to introduce you to Latasha Bailey.
Hi Latasha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am Louisiana born and raised, and a proud alum of Southern University and A&M College, where I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. My journey begins with the women who came before me. My grandmother, who worked as a maid to provide for me and my sister, modeled resilience, dignity, and sacrifice. When I got to college, she even sold pies so I could afford my books because while she couldn’t support me financially on her salary, she was determined that I would have what I needed to succeed. I come from a long line of hardworking women, and their sacrifices are the foundation I continue to build on today.
Education was never an easy road. Graduate school, in particular, was grueling because I had to work while pursuing my studies just to support myself. But success was the only option. As the first person in my immediate family to graduate from college, my journey was never just about me; it was about setting a new standard for those who would come after me. Every late night of studying, every job I worked, and every challenge I faced carried the weight of a dream bigger than my own.
After years of working in the field, learning from incredible mentors, and later serving as a mentor myself, I knew it was time to step out on faith. That’s when I founded my private practice: a pediatric speech therapy clinic serving children from birth through age 21 with speech, language, literacy, and feeding disorders. Our work is about so much more than therapy; it’s about giving children a voice, opening doors to learning, and helping families see hope and possibility for the future.
The road has not been without obstacles, but each trial has strengthened my resolve. I am a woman who survived, who beat the odds, and who has built a beautiful life for herself. Every chance I get to pour into the next generation, I do so wholeheartedly, because I know the power of seeing someone walk a path you never imagined possible. My hope is that my story inspires others to rise to the occasion, to work hard, and to build a life they love; even if they’ve never seen it done before.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Charting a path I had never seen before was both lonely and trying beyond measure. Being the first in my immediate family to graduate from college, and later the first to step out and start a business, meant there was no blueprint for me to follow. I had to figure things out through trial, faith, and sheer determination.
Building my practice has stretched me in ways I never could have imagined. From navigating the financial realities of entrepreneurship to balancing the weight of responsibility for the families we serve, the journey has required resilience at every step. There were moments of doubt, moments where the challenges felt bigger than me but each one pushed me to grow stronger and more confident in my purpose.
The road hasn’t been easy, but the struggles have shaped me into the woman I am today: a woman who can stand tall in her story and use it to encourage others that their obstacles are not the end of the road, but often the beginning of something greater.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Latasha Bailey, Founder and CEO of Speech & Language Launchpad, PLLC, has built a practice that is as inspiring as her personal journey. Today, she leads a thriving pediatric speech therapy clinic in New Caney, Texas. A nationally certified speech-language pathologist and feeding specialist, Bailey has earned a reputation for combining clinical excellence with a heart for service.
Speech & Language Launchpad is much more than a clinic. It is a space where children are prioritized, where progress is celebrated, and where families are equipped with tools to carry therapy beyond the session. The practice specializes in helping children find their voice, improve communication, and strengthen feeding and literacy skills. What sets the clinic apart is Bailey’s unwavering commitment to excellence in service. Every child’s success is treated as a team effort, which is why caregiver training is an integral part of the Launchpad model. By empowering parents to reinforce skills at home and in the community, the clinic ensures that children experience meaningful, lasting progress.
Brand-wise, Latasha Bailey is most proud of her team’s reputation for delivering high-quality care and creating a safe, supportive environment where children are both challenged and encouraged. Families know that when they walk through the doors of Speech & Language Launchpad, they are not just entering a therapy space; they are joining a community that is committed to their child’s growth.
As a Black woman in a field where only about three percent of professionals share her background, Bailey also carries her role as a responsibility to lead from the front. She understands the power of visibility and representation. By building a successful practice, she hopes to inspire the next generation of Black and Brown girls to pursue careers in speech-language pathology, leadership, and entrepreneurship. For Bailey, it is not enough to succeed personally; she is intentional about paving the way so that others can follow.
At the heart of it all, Bailey’s story and her brand reflect the values instilled in her by her grandmother and the generations of hardworking women in her family. She has taken those lessons of resilience and sacrifice and transformed them into a business that changes lives every day. Speech & Language Launchpad is not just about therapy; it is a promise to serve with integrity, to empower families, and to give children the opportunity to thrive.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about our city is the sense of community and resilience that lives here. There is a unique spirit of people coming together, supporting one another, and finding ways to make things happen even when resources are limited. I love the culture, and the way families in this city show up for their children and for each other. It is a place filled with possibility, and that energy fuels me both personally and professionally.
What I like least about our city is the inequity that still exists. Too many families face barriers to resources that should be accessible to everyone, from healthcare to education to opportunities for advancement. It can be hard to watch children struggle, not because of their abilities, but because the systems around them do not always give them the same chance to succeed. That reality motivates me to keep doing the work I do because I believe we all have a role in building a city where every child and every family can thrive.
