Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Gonzalez.
Hi Laura, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Laura Gonzalez, owner and photographer here at Laura Alicia Photography LLC. I specialize in newborn photography and service the Houston and surrounding areas. I started doing photography around 2015 with a little bit of everything and still working full-time. Throughout the years I’ve met so many great families and friends and in 2021 I started really putting in all my effort to learning everything I could about newborn photography. It’s an entire giant industry in itself, and I wanted to know everything from baby safety to wrapping, lighting, posing, and more. I’ve snuggled with lots and lots of babies by now and can’t wait to meet more! My absolute favorite part of what I do is working with families from baby bump to newborn session, to milestone and cake smash sessions! It makes you truly see and appreciate how fast time flies and how important it is to capture these moments. Now, I do this full-time while also being a full-time stay-at-home mom to my 2 toddlers. It’s a large workload, but I feel with a little encouragement, we can do it all!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road. With newborn photography, there is a BIG learning curve. Babies do what they want, and we can’t force them to do anything! I’ve just really delved into joining workshops, watching educational videos, and joining mentorships to really have lots of tricks and tools at my disposal to calm a fussy baby or get the best pose out of what baby allows me to do.
The biggest challenge, however, is balancing time and work with my husband and two kids. I have a 4-year-old and an almost 2-year-old. As we know, littles need a lot of attention, but I also had my own goals I wanted to achieve. It’s probably not the best timing to go full speed with a business (plus my husband also works full time as a firefighter and owns his own remodeling business too)… but life is too short, and there will always be struggles to overcome. With the help of my husband and family, we try our best to be present with the kids and also provide a life that is comfortable and fun! And coffee…. lots of late nights and coffee.

I specialize in newborn photography and absolutely love working with little ones! I like to make sure my clients feel comfortable, relaxed and that they can trust I will capture their growing family for years to come. I tend to gravitate towards portraits that are classic and timeless. I want my clients to have photos that they can look back on in 30 years and still love!
I also want to make sure clients don’t just keep their digital images locked away on their phone or computer. I offer a full range of products from wall art, albums, keepsakes, and more. I want to help busy moms preserve their family legacy for generations to come. There is something so special about seeing your family proudly displayed in your home.
