Hidden Gems: Meet Leah Browne-Freeman of The Inner Bloom Room Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Browne-Freeman.

Leah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my career in healthcare as a registered nurse and later became a family nurse practitioner, working for years in high-intensity environments like the ER and outpatient clinics. Over time, I realized that while I loved caring for people’s physical health, I was equally drawn to the emotional and psychological side of healing. That led me back to school for a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, where I trained to become a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate.

Today, I balance both of those worlds. Running a wellness clinic with my husband that focuses on IV therapy and weight management, while also building my private counseling practice, The Inner Bloom Room Counseling. Both ventures reflect my belief in whole-person care by supporting not just the body, but also the mind and spirit. My journey has been about blending those two passions, and creating safe, supportive spaces where people can heal, grow, and feel empowered.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Balancing multiple careers and jobs, first as a nurse, then a nurse practitioner, and now as a counselor and business owner. Juggling careers has come with its share of challenges. There were seasons of burnout, times I questioned whether I was capable of starting something new, and the reality of juggling family life with long hours, school, and entrepreneurship.

On the business side, learning how to build two practices from the ground up such as managing finances, marketing, and all the behind-the-scenes logistics was overwhelming at times. Personally, I’ve also had to work through my own self-doubt and the pressure of wearing many hats.

But those struggles have shaped me. They reminded me of the importance of boundaries, self-care, and having my own support system, which is the same values I now try to pass on to my clients.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
For a long time, mental health was treated as something taboo that was never spoken about outloud, was hidden behind closed doors, and often judged harshly. People were encouraged to “push through” instead of seek help, and that stigma kept so many from receiving the care they deserved. The Inner Bloom Room Counseling was created to be a safe, compassionate space where people can come as they are and begin the process of healing and growth. We specialize in helping individuals who feel weighed down by unresolved trauma or grief, struggle with self-worth and people-pleasing, or feel stuck and disconnected in their relationships or even the relationship they have with themselves.

What sets us apart is our whole-person approach. I draw from evidence-based therapies like ACT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), but I also bring in my background as a nurse/nurse practitioner to understand how physical health and mental health are deeply connected.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the sense of community and empowerment that is building. The Inner Bloom Room isn’t just a therapy office, it’s a place where clients are reminded that they can bloom even after life’s hardest seasons. Our name reflects that: growth, healing, and inner transformation.

The Inner Bloom Room Counseling currently offers both in-person and virtual sessions to make counseling accessible and flexible. My goal is for readers to know that if they’re searching for a safe space to process, to rebuild self-trust, or to reconnect with themselves and others, The Inner Bloom Room Counseling is here to support that journey.
