Hi Letiticia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was in college at Nicholls State University working on my Bachelor’s in Accounting, and it was tax season. I remember telling my friend I did not want to pay those ridiculous tax fees that year (2013) because I needed all the money I could get. I did my own taxes and a few friends. My best friend at the time started promoting me on Facebook telling everyone to “Come get the Max with Lola Mack (my alter ego). LOL. Surprisingly, the phrase was so catchy that 9 years later, I still use it. Now I am the proud owner of Lola Mack Tax Prep Services where we provide you with the greatest tax filing experience. Two weeks ago, I walked across the stage to receive my Master’s in Accounting. So as you can see, accounting is my passion. Taxation is my favorite section of accounting and I am working to further my career in that area.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not at all. Working with the public especially when it pertains to money, is always trying. You have to get strangers to trust you. Word of mouth is everything, so I have to be sure to stay up to date on the tax laws so that I can give my clients accurate information. With so much fraud and scams in the world today, the struggle of gaining the public’s trust is hard. I am always honest with my clients, even when I know what I have to say is what they do not want to hear, I still tell them the truth. I pride myself on confidentiality as well, that is what will help grow this type of business.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I am working on branding Lola Mack into a major tax business. I am working on hiring and training new tax preparers for the next tax season. There are so many things I have in store for my business and I can not wait to see it all unfold.
