Hidden Gems: Meet Martaeus French of FrenchyFitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martaeus French

Hi Martaeus, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Martaeus French, and I’m from Alief, Houston, Texas. I graduated from Lamar University with a degree in Management Information Systems.

My interest in fitness started with my dad. I always remember waking up on Saturday mornings and walking out of my room to see him training in our home gym, with his big Arnold Schwarzenegger poster hanging in the middle. That will always stick with me and sparked my interest in fitness at a young age. By the time I reached my junior year of college, I decided it was time to finally put on some muscle after being the skinny kid for so long.

At first, I was lifting weights but wasn’t fully invested—I wasn’t paying attention to what I put into my body, counting my calories, or tracking my protein intake. I was simply lifting. A few months later, in the spring, I suffered a major injury while playing basketball that required wrist surgery, setting me back significantly in my fitness journey. I couldn’t train the way I wanted to for almost a year. However, during that time, I dove deep into researching fitness—learning what to eat, what to avoid, and how to build size and strength. By the time I fully recovered, I knew exactly what steps I needed to take to get serious.

During my senior year of college, my relationship with God grew tremendously. My father always taught me that our bodies are temples and that by taking care of them—eating right and exercising—we glorify God, who blessed us with these bodies. That belief became a core part of my “why” when it comes to fitness.

A year or so later, my friends noticed how consistent I was in the gym and saw my body transforming. They encouraged me to start creating content. At first, I was skeptical, but I decided to give it a shot. One of my friends— you may know as “@caiworldwide”—challenged me to think about what I could do to stand out from other gym influencers. That’s when I came up with the idea of doing gym interviews—what I now call “QOTD” (Question of the Day). Whether I’m asking my audience online or going up to people in the gym, it gives me a unique way to connect with others and engage my community.

Looking back, I have to give all thanks and credit to God first for where I am today—thanking Him for the ability to move, exercise, and inspire others. Through faith, discipline, and consistency, you can achieve anything. Whether it’s transforming your body, starting a business, or pursuing any goal, the principles of fitness apply to life as a whole.

I also have my community for their support. Receiving messages from people telling me that I’ve inspired them to take their health more seriously means everything to me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part it has been smooth. I have just been enjoying it. I feel as if I found my purpose through this by serving people, motivating and inspiring them. Some days of course I don’t feel like working out or even will have a bad week in all. I still remember though it’s all about discipline and I have to continue to show up even on the bad days.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’ll be launching my personal 1-on-1 virtual training soon, where I’ll offer training to anyone—any age, any fitness level. If you have a goal you want to achieve, we’ll accomplish it together.

What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve been building. Whether it’s helping someone learn how to tone their legs, providing fitness advice and workouts to incorporate into their routine, or simply putting a smile on their face with one of my more humorous videos—when you come to my page, you know you’ll get it all. From motivation on how faith and fitness go hand in hand to just a good laugh, I’m here to inspire, educate, and entertain.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My discipline. My journey in fitness, faith, content creation, and even business has all been built on a foundation of consistency, resilience, and dedication.. I have shown that discipline isn’t just about showing up in the gym—it’s about committing to self-improvement, staying faithful to your goals, and pushing through setbacks. My ability to stay focused, inspire others, and continuously evolve spiritually, mentally, and physically sets me apart
