Today we’d like to introduce you to Miagney Ripley. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Miagney Ripley is Georgia born designer currently residing in Houston, TX. She started Lemija Di while in college, completely unaware of what it would evolve into. She is a self-taught fashion designer specializing in women’s couture looks. She started out by making alterations to her clothes and making bonnets for fun. She broke out her Lemija di line by making the popular exotic tops for women all over. It took her to see multiple orders for her to know that sewing was her real passion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While trying to maintain over a 3.0 average in college and run a business has kept her very busy. It hasn’t been an easy ride dealing with classes and sewing machine needle breaking. The hardest struggle she had to deal with was moving away from her already built up clients to Houston. Making a name for herself in Houston hasn’t been hard but hasn’t been easy either. She’s ready for all the challenges this big city has to offer.
As you know, we’re big fans of Lemija Di. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Lemija Di stands for the Miagney Jabre (MIJA). I wanted my brand to represent women of all sizes. Being a plus size girl and hardy ever finding something to wear I knew I could make whatever I put my mind to. That’s what Lemija Di is all about sticking to your word and not going against your own dreams. Most designers forget about plus size women when it comes to fashion. I want to be the first from Georgia to be able to have a couture plus-size line for the girls. That’s what sets me apart from other designers, I don’t stop at XL. Lemija di specialize in every size. Every size deserves to be catered to! Throughout my current success and favor of God over my life, I’ll forever main humble and continue to follow his steps. My accomplishments thus far are just the beginning of everything Lemija di has to offer. I will continue to use my gift to put smiles on ladies’ faces when they see their dresses.
