Today we’d like to introduce you to Qiana Robinson.
Hi Qiana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a Licensed Cosmetologist since 1999. I’m a proud wife and mom of 3 (21, 8, and 6). For the first ten years of my career, I worked as a Style Director (hair stylist) at Visible Changes in The Galleria and worked as a freelance Makeup Artist (MUA). I opened my very first Salon in 2009. That led to so many opportunities for business-wise. I had the pleasure of traveling to various states as an Educator and Platform Artist. Working with our very own Houston Rockets Power Dancers for 3 seasons as part of their Glam Team was one of the most memorable highlights of my career. That then opened doors for me to work on commercials, photo shoots, and movie sets with the NBA as well as NBA AllStar weekend.
I felt like I needed to do more for so long so I decided to go back to school to become a Licensed Instructor. From there, I retired from being a Stylist into a part-time Instructor in 2014 as well as launching Marie L. Artistry LLC (MLA). Educating has always been my passion. While in school I fell in love with skincare even more. As a Pro Makeup Artist, this was the perfect combination. This is also the true beginning of MLA LLC.
While teaching as a part-time Instructor, I provided Advance Courses in skin care to Licensed professionals and students. In 2019 I left the school arena and found a home for MLA in Humble TX. I am still operating in my God-given talent, only now it’s as a skincare Educator and provider. My faith in God has provided me with so much and I could not be more grateful for what He has done with my success. I’m looking forward to what’s in store for the future of MLA.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, it has been a smooth road to where I am now. Of course, as an entrepreneur, there are some challenges.
How you rise to those challenges will be the deciding factor on how tough or smooth your journey will be. Praying and operating in my faith have always been my safe place. I’m at peace there. So when adversity shows its head, I retreat to that safe place.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The beauty industry will never die. It is forever evolving. and Keeping up with the latest trends etc comes with the territory. In 5-10 years, Skincare will be just as much advanced as it is today.
