My journey into the world of skincare started as a deeply personal one. As someone with sensitive and rosacea-prone skin, I often struggled to find products that were effective yet gentle. This inspired me to create skincare solutions that prioritized skin safety without compromising on results.
My background as a PhD scientist with over 25 years of experience in research and development played a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life. Before launching Monaesi Skincare, I briefly worked in the personal care industry, where I witnessed the need for products that catered to diverse skin types and concerns in a meaningful way. I turned this dream into reality during the pademic.
Monaesi Skincare was born out of a passion to create conceptual, inclusive, and innovative skincare solutions. We officially launched in March 2022, offering products that simplify routines while delivering exceptional results. From our Advanced Night Serum to our Multifunctional Daily Moisturizer and Acne treatment solutions, every product is designed to address multiple skin concerns simultaneously.
As a self-funded and bootstrapped company, Monaesi Skincare has grown organically through word-of-mouth and customer loyalty. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to building Monaesi Skincare has been anything but smooth, but every challenge has shaped us into what we are today. One of the biggest hurdles has been navigating the complexities of being a self-funded, bootstrapped brand in a competitive industry. Without the cushion of external funding, we’ve had to be resourceful and strategic, ensuring that every decision aligns with our mission of delivering high-quality, effective, and inclusive skincare.
Another major challenge has been balancing my dual roles as a founder and a scientist. While my background in R&D has been instrumental in creating innovative formulations, translating that expertise into a consumer-friendly brand has required a steep learning curve in marketing, branding, and operations.
Additionally, as a woman-owned indie brand, breaking into a market dominated by larger, more established players hasn’t been easy. Educating customers about the value of clean, multifunctional skincare while competing with big-budget brands has been an ongoing effort.
Despite these struggles, the loyalty and trust of our customers have been our guiding light. Their positive feedback and our 97% retention rate remind me why I started this journey—to create effective, skin-safe products that genuinely make a difference. Every obstacle has strengthened our foundation and fueled our determination to grow Monaesi Skincare into a brand that redefines skincare for diverse needs.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is from the time I spent in a small town, where I enjoyed simple, joyful moments. I would make garlands out of flowers, ride my bicycle every day after school, and play along the riverside, shaping figurines out of clay. My grandmother played a significant role in shaping my early years. We spent time together making plant potions, using the natural ingredients around us, which sparked my lifelong fascination with plants and their healing properties.
These memories not only bring a sense of peace but also connect to the philosophy behind Monaesi Skincare. The natural world has always been a source of inspiration for me, and those childhood experiences continue to shape my passion for creating clean, plant-based skincare.
