Today we’d like to introduce you to Romannie Smith.
Hi Romannie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved to cook. I grew up watching my mom and family host some incredible events where food was always the center. There would always be such a wide variety of options and a feast big enough to satisfy even the pickiest eater. I spent the majority of high school inside the Culinary Arts room baking and catering for school events, creating recipes and just really exploring my passion. Although I loved to cook, I was not for sure if it was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. After high school, I attended the University of Texas at San Antonio where I received a bachelor’s degree in Communication. I was still unsure on what I wanted to do with my life, so I went into education. I grew to love my job and became satisfied. It wasn’t until a few coworkers and I decided we wanted to stop spending so much money on lunches during the week, is when I volunteered to start meal prepping lunches for us. About a week into it, word spread around the school. Before I knew it, I was providing lunches for more than half of the staff. As soon as I began to rediscover my love for cooking, we received word that school would be closed due to COVID. What I thought would be my biggest obstacle soon became my biggest blessing. With everyone having to work from home, I started to get more referrals from people interested in my meals. After cooking for a select few clients during the pandemic, I decided to make an Instagram to show off my meals. Things just slowly grew from there. I rediscovered my passion for cooking, and I am excited to see where it will take me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been the smoothest road, but I can honestly say my support system has helped a lot. In the beginning, I had a lot of trouble being confident in my skills. Having to balance meal prepping every weekend and being a full-time teacher took a lot of time and preparation. My support system really helped ground me and help me put a method to my madness.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a small family operation that specializes in making ready to eat meals. Our menu changes weekly and offers a wide selection based on customer recommendations. We operate by preorder only, Monday through Thursday. All meals are available for pick up or delivery on Saturdays and Sundays. What sets us apart from others is our attention to detail, we like to ensure every meal leaves a satisfied smile on our customers’ faces. We take pride in our entire process from beginning to end. From the moment we draft our menus, search for fresh produce, prepare our meals, until the moment they reach our customers.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My biggest thank you must go to my parents, brother, and aunt . If it was not for their unconditional love and support, I would not have made it this far. They have really allowed me to turn my passion into a business. I am blessed to have such a solid foundation. I also have the rest of my family, my friends, and my loyal customers to thank. It’s been an incredible ride and I’ve met some awesome people along the way. I am excited to see what’s next.
