Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadaf Javaid.
Hi sadaf, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Sadaf Javaid, a child psychiatrist practicing in Houston, Texas. I’m also a proud mother of three wonderful children and the wife of an incredibly supportive husband—who happens to be my best friend.
I have been in private practice for the past 9 years in the Energy Corridor catering to both children and adults, . My goal is to break the stigma and normalize talking about mental health, our emotions, communication, and overall well-being.
Growing up in Pakistan, I saw firsthand how important it is to normalize mental health discussions—yet how rare they were. This played a huge role in my decision to pursue psychiatry. I’ve always loved storytelling, especially when it helps people feel seen, heard, and validated in their struggles.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a medical doctor from Pakistan choosing psychiatry as my path in the United States, my journey has been both challenging and deeply meaningful. Early on, I often found myself working to help colleagues appreciate the vital role of mental health in overall well-being—a conversation that was not always easy, but one I felt compelled to have. At the same time, navigating a new system meant searching persistently for research positions and opportunities, all while trying to find my footing in an unfamiliar environment. These struggles, though at times overwhelming, ultimately strengthened my resolve and shaped my identity as a physician committed to advancing mental health care.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Cognitive Psychiatry Services P.A.?
At cognitive psychiatry, we are a firm believer that every individual is unique. It is very important to take an integrated treatment approach to designing a personalized treatment plan that incorporates the functional performance of the patient, his/her family unit and extended support network such as therapists, social workers and family to help you achieve your goals.
As your service provider, you can expect:
empathic and positive experience
collaborative approach to patient care that could involve immediate family members, therapists, schools, other doctors, etc

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I believe that mental health should be accessible to every one. I try to accommodate anyone who needs help. I have a pretty flexible schedule and its easy to get in to see me.
