Hidden Gems: Meet Sarah Seitz of The Enrichery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Seitz.

Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I didn’t know what it was, but I couldn’t shake this feeling that there was something more out there for me. At the time, I was a fresh Vanderbilt grad, new to the teaching world and struggling to make a real difference in the classroom. There were a few students that I really connected with, but with classes of 30+ kids shuffling in and out, it was hard to meet the needs of them all. Teaching to the middle never felt right to me. I also saw a huge gap in the system where basic study skills were concerned. Brilliant students would fail a grading period simply because they didn’t have a system for writing down when assignments were due. I couldn’t help but think, “What does it matter if this kid can analyze poetry if they can’t manage a calendar?”. There’s got to be something more out there. After several years in the classroom, I listened to my intuition, quit my job, and launched my own education company. My vision for The Enrichery was to create a place where kids could meet one-on-one with a coach who inspires them to improve not just academically but personally too. By teaching them lifelong habits for success (time management, organization, etc.), I knew we could make a huge impact.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I never imagined being a business owner. My family is full of lawyers and teachers, so it was never really on my radar. But thankfully, I followed my gut instinct and took the plunge– and I never looked back. That being said, running a business is grueling labor of love. It’s like riding a rollercoaster that you can’t get off. You really have to be strong enough to handle the emotional highs and lows.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Enrichery?
The Enrichery offers academic coaching, test prep, and college admissions guidance for students in Kindergarten through college.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
When I started, The Enrichery was a one-woman operation in a 200-square-foot office. Five years later, and we’ve opened two locations and have a robust team of dedicated coaches and staff. I owe everything to the passionate people in my Enrichery family– our parents, our students, our staff– who got behind my vision and have worked to make it a reality.
