Hidden Gems: Meet Sarah Zaver of Frame & Focus Eye Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Zaver.

Hi Sarah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a Houston native. My interest in optometry started as an undergraduate at the Univeresity of Houston. I knew that I was interested in healthcare, but was not sure which field I wanted to pursue. I started working as a receptionist for a family owned optometry practice. The doctors there inspired me to pursue a career in optometry. I graduated the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2014 and completed a residency at UHCO in Brain Injury and Vision Rehab in 2015. After completing the residency, I worked for a private practice for 3 years and decided it was finally time for me to open my own! I always knew that I wanted to be a practice owner. I opened a cold start practice in Richmond, TX in 2019. We’ve been here since then!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a cold start practice, there have been a few growing pains that were to be expected. Our greatest challenge was learning to navigate COVID-19 as a young cold-start healthcare business. There were obvisouly the health concerns that were involved with working with others in such close capacity in addition to the financial concerns of being a new business.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Frame & Focus Eye Care is where medical eye care and boutique eye wear come together. Our focus is to keep your eyes healthy, as long as you need them! We provide comprehensive eye exams to all ages in addition to medical eye care, pre/post- op LASIK and cataract surgery eye care, dry eye treatments, and myopia control. We also specialize in fitting our patients with Neurolenses, which is a type of lens that helps alleviate headaches, neck pain, and eye fatigue. We also have a boutique optical featuring designer frames with a full-service lab that can cut your lenses the same day. What we are known for the most in our community is the exceptional customer service that we provide. Each patient is given a thorough eye exam with customized treatment plans, that they get to create with us, to solve any vision concerns/discomfort.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the diversity that our city has to offer. You can definitely see that with our food industry. You can pretty much get any type of cuisine that your heart desires! I also love that our city has a strong fine arts community.

What I like the least about our city is the traffic and the construction.
