Hidden Gems: Meet TaLisa Jones-Lowery of Jones Lowery Law Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to TaLisa Jones-Lowery.

Hi TaLisa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born & raised in St. Louis, MO by my hard-working mother, Lisa Jones. After graduating high school, I moved to Jackson, MS to attend THEE Jackson State University where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in English. During my matriculation at Jackson State, I was the captain of the basketball dance team, The JSU Dazzlers, and pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

It was always my plan to become an attorney. However, after graduating college, I was submerged into a working life. After having my daughter, my focus went back to achieving my goals instead of settling for less. Subsequently, I got accepted into Thurgood Marshall School of Law and moved to Houston, TX. It was an amazing experience that helped groom me into the lawyer I am today. I am immensely grateful for my experience at both of my HBCUs.

Since graduating from law school and passing the bar, I have opened my own law firm, Jones Lowery Law Group, became a Certified Sports Agent for the NBA, and published my first fictional novel, Love Diagnosis. I am a firm believer that you owe it to yourself to be and do everything that you dream and I am not done yet!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Getting to where I am now has definitely not been smooth! It has taken a lot of focus; sacrifice; and determination… all of my blood; sweat; and tears! I honestly made a conscious effort not to hone in on my struggles but rather use them as fuel. Because I knew that better was coming; all I needed to do was endure.

As you know, we’re big fans of Jones Lowery Law Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My law firm specializes in:

Sports & Entertainment
Copyright & Trademark
Business Formation
Contracts & Agreements

I recently became a Certified Sports Agent for the NBA so I am now working to secure athletes as clients. Being that I am also an attorney, I can assist with many of their career endeavors.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
MENTORSHIP! Find a qualified mentor. It is SO important to get with people that have been where you are and have mastered their craft. Learning from others is essential; their mistakes and their triumphs. It will make you better at what you do.
