I began my entrepreneurial journey with a clear vision — to create a space where people could connect, celebrate, and make lasting memories. Drawing on over 25 years of experience in the medical oncology field and leader, I opened Calendars Event Space in 2023, transforming her passion for service, organization, and community into a thriving business.
What started as a single event venue has since expanded into Calendars Lounge, a vibrant social lounge offering music, entertainment, and relaxation, and Calendars Talk, her own podcast that gives voice to real-life conversations. My businesses now serve as pillars of creativity, celebration, and inspiration in the Houston community — a reflection of my dedication, growth, and unwavering belief in purpose-driven success.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I moved to Houston to pursue my dream, the road was far from easy. Just one month and four days after settling in, she faced an unexpected setback when my own cousin put me out. With no stable footing but unshakable faith, I refused to give up. I pushed forward, building Calendars Event Space from the ground up — a vision born from struggle, perseverance, and purpose.
Through every obstacle, my determination turned pain into power. Today, I stands as the proud owner of Calendars Lounge & Event Space and Calendars Talk, living proof that faith, hard work, and resilience can turn even the hardest beginnings into something extraordinary.

When I started Calendars Lounge & Event Space, my vision was to create more than just a venue — I wanted to build a place where people could come together, celebrate life, and make lasting memories. Every event that happens at Calendars means something to me because I know what it took to get here. I started from humble beginnings, and I faced a lot of challenges along the way, but I never gave up on my purpose.
At Calendars, we specialize in hosting all types of events — birthdays, weddings, baby showers, corporate meetings, pop-up shops, and so much more. We offer customized event packages, a full bar, planning and catering services, and a beautiful, versatile space that fits almost any occasion. What sets us apart is that we don’t just rent out a space — we create an experience. My goal has always been to make every client feel valued, supported, and proud of the event they host with us.
I’m most proud of how far the brand has come. Adding Calendars Lounge has allowed me to expand the vision and give Houston a place where people can relax, enjoy R&B, jazz, reggae, country, or blues, and just have a good time. Every detail, from the music to the atmosphere, is designed to make people feel welcome and connected.
At the end of the day, I want readers to know that Calendars Lounge & Event Space was built on faith, passion, and perseverance. This brand represents growth, community, and excellence — and I’m proud to say that we’re not just hosting events, we’re helping people create unforgettable moments.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality that has been most important to my success is resilience. My journey hasn’t been easy — from starting over in a new city to facing unexpected setbacks, I had to learn how to stand tall through challenges and keep moving forward with faith and determination. Resilience taught me that no matter what happens, you can always rebuild, refocus, and rise again.
That strength, along with my faith, integrity, and compassion for others, has guided every step of my journey. It’s what allows me to connect with people, build lasting relationships, and create spaces that reflect love, celebration, and community. Those qualities are at the heart of who I am and the foundation of everything I’ve built with Calendars Lounge & Event Space.
