Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrell Jones.
Terrell, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a clothing brand designer of The Luminary Collections and Financing professional. I am representing and showing love from the southside of Fort Worth, TX. I started my career in the financing and accounting world after graduating from The Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Business. After graduating from college, I found myself in the heart of Houston, TX. Having the change of scenery opened the possibility for me to not only focus on my career but lifelong passions I had been eager to begin. The Luminary Collections, LLC was something that I began to work on in my sophomore year of college and finally established in 2022.
It can be a daunting task navigating the world, trying to figure out who you are, where you fit in, and what legacy you want to leave behind. This is where my story begins… I struggled with these exact questions trying to understand who I was and what I wanted to offer the world. I have always found clothing to be an interesting concept. It’s unique in its ability to allow all of us to find our own style and what fits us the best, yet also allows us to share a connection between each other when there is a style that we all enjoy. I am no novice to the fashion industry, I have had the opportunity to explore my passion for fashion throughout high school and undergrad at various clothing companies. This is where I found the answers to those daunting questions. I found solace in helping my community around me find their style. The emotion it brought to the surface and the confidence it instilled in them was unmatched. I thought to myself this is it! This is what I have to offer the world at this moment. I want to be the light in people’s lives, inspire them to become whoever and whatever they want to be through clothing. This is how The Luminary Collections was born…
What I envision for The Luminary Collections is to take my experiences and the experiences that we share as human beings and portray that through the art of clothing. My first collection titled “Spread Your Wings” embodies the essence of jumping off the ledge into all of your passions and allowing yourself to be immersed in your potential. The collection that I am currently working on and expected to drop soon will be titled “Broken Clocks”. This collection is inspired by my philosophy to focus on the present rather than letting our past dictate our future. Accountability and Action are two words I can attest has gotten me to where I am today and hopefully much further in my journey as a young clothing brand designer. I can’t tell you how many times I almost gave up on my dream to have a clothing brand before I even gave myself the chance to just START. Now that I have broken through that barrier and have seen potential in my clothing brand, I want to take it as far as I can.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Anything worth having is not going to be an easy foot. Establishing my clothing brand and becoming a business owner has been one of the most challenging obstacles I have had to face. When starting anything, the question becomes, “well where do I start?”. That was one of the roadblocks I couldn’t wrap my head around. We all want our image, especially our brand image to be perfect, but the simple fact is…it never will be. It will continue to evolve and grow as we grow and learn more about ourselves and our brand. TheOne of the biggest struggles I have had to face was my own self-doubt. Trusting that I am exactly where I’m supposed to be, gives me a sense of uncertainty. However, there is power in uncertainty, it pushes me to work harder than I ever have for something that I love and want to share with the world.
I personally have never had an entrepreneurial figure in my life growing up. So, this has forced me to learn and unlearn more than I could have ever imagined. From filing my LLC to finally holding one of my pieces in my hands, and ALL of the small details in between, I can go on for days about all of the things I struggled with along the way and will continue to struggle with.
While the outcome is absolutely amazing, I want to stress the importance of enjoying the journey and the process that gets you to the desired outcome. Failing is extremely important in this game, I am more proud of the struggles that I have overcome with my business than the success that I have had. It has made me more resilient to failure and more accepting of growth.

I believe what sets The Luminary Collections apart from other clothing brands is it’s not an ordinary brand. I want to create an experience with my clothing that you can’t get anywhere else. I hope the humility and authenticity brought to the clothing will tap into the emotion of my audience and will inspire others. I believe that focusing on the experiences we face in the world and portraying that through the art of clothing is different from anything I’ve seen as far as streetwear goes.
