Hi Tessa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been told by other people that I would be successful as a real estate agent. I thought so too but just never really took the initiative to become one until mid-2019. At the time when I started real estate, I was working as an actor and still currently act as well and wanted another career that can be flexible to accommodate last-minute audition trips and projects as well as to supplement my income. I have done various other types of sales and marketing jobs in the medical field and financial industry so sales is something I think I’m fairly good at, I love people and meeting new people so real estate seems fitting. I started this side career with all the fear that I wouldn’t be successful and my friends watching me fail etc, but some friends gave me a shot and I started building my business from my sphere of influence and social media. I would say those two are my biggest source of clients and now also referrals from my past clients and friends as well. In 2021, I achieved the top producer benchmark within my brokerage and in 2022 I started a small team as I want to help others achieve what I’ve achieved.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely was tough starting out as a new agent, it’s a cutthroat industry with so much market saturation and competition. I feel like everyone knows multiple real estate agents, know what I mean? Some of my friends didn’t want to use me as their realtor as they feel I am inexperienced as a new agent. Covid also started shortly after I got licensed, the whole lockdown situation didn’t help, and I felt stagnant. They say lots of new agents fail in this industry and that’s what I was afraid of.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is about helping people and businesses achieve their real estate goals with every stage of life they’re in, whether that’s buying, selling, leasing residential or commercial real estate. I do it all. I want to save my client’s precious time and stress from dealing with real estate-related needs and provide a white glove service, and going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure my clients are happy. I currently don’t have a special niche but I just want to be able to help everyone out, no matter if it’s high-end luxury listings to lower price range buyers to young professionals needing an apartment to lease. I have a professional background of on-camera skills from my acting career, that sets me apart from other agents who aren’t comfortable being on camera and talking about their listings, I have a stacked resume of being in various commercials for very well-known brands and that commercial acting translates into my listing videos when I’m marketing my listings with video content. That’s something I’m known for, so you might randomly see me in a print ad for At&T or a commercial for Jamba juice.
How do you define success?
To me, success is very simple, as long as you love what you do, have a supportive and loving friends and family, and have the freedom to pursue happiness, that is success to me. For my business, it’s not about the business accolades but how many people’s lives I can positively affect, that’s true success.
