Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Tatum.
Hi Victoria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The walk-through of my story is pretty intensive to say the least but I believe it perfectly flows with my original design. Growing up in a huge black household of hardworking women and men, slacking was absolutely not an option in my family, and neither was having a plan that wasn’t secure.
It was very clear since the beginning of my generation’s existence that we had two prominent choices in my family; Either college or the military with no other options or considerations that was the end all be all. And for a while, I grew up believing these were the only true paths to living a successful life. Although I had many other gifts like drawing and editing and writing none of these seemed realistic enough for my family to take me seriously and eventually, they faded into the background and my mission for serving and helping began to rise to the surface.
By the time it was down to the wire of high school at just 17 years old, it was finally time to make a decision on what my entire life would be. Like a frantic child escaping a housefire, I grabbed at the most relevant things I could reach for in that time, that was my love for the design of the human body and helping others come up with solutions to take care of them. So obviously I went Pre-Med, I mean at the time it seemed like the most obvious steps to take. Being a nerd for knowledge and science I mean why not be a whole doctor, right?
But little did I know, this wasn’t God’s original intent behind my design here on earth and because of that, I spent roughly two years forcing myself into a mold that wasn’t made for me for the sake of appearances and family. This led to countless downward spirals, stepping further out my character and faith, until I realized this can’t be the path my creator has for me, this was the path my family laid for me. And that was the game-changer, I finally realized that what had gotten me to this state, it was believing that anyone other than my creator/designer could give me the manual on what I should be doing with my life.
That very questioning and seeking thrusted me into becoming an author to document and explain how others can be set free too, owning my motherhood because being a mom doesn’t stop the change you’re still called bring, channeling purpose because in spite of life turns and loops it doesn’t stop what God is doing through you, and all of that helped me to start serving others who wanted to accomplish the same. I’ve built an entire career solely based on the testimony and gifts God has made so obvious for me to use since I arrived here. And that same love for serving has helped me to build out coaching services, books that help women establish their personal and financial goals in their life. How to take God ideas and divine inspiration and market them like a pro and still keep Him first.
So many of us are trapped in projections, expectations, limiting beliefs that tell us it’s not practical to have a lasting sustaining income from the things you truly were sent into the earth to do, things that just come naturally. There’s some weird part of our brains that doesn’t see how someone who knits as a hobby could use that gift to change their entire community and local economy. But that’s exactly what God ideas are sent here to do, because this is an actual result of divine inspiration and how most entrepreneurs get started.
Who knew that my testimony of discovering my true purpose and resisting things and influences that wanted to hinder that would fuel and set the foundation of my entire business? God did. Because even when I chose a path without turning to Him, He still used it to guide me right back on track to His original design, and proving that gifts can 100% still make room for you.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There have been all kinds of clap back in my life since I began my entrepreneurial journey, like me and God being the only ones who actually believed in the process, along with the grace to learn what I needed to be the most effective, everyone didn’t understand the days when It was more investing in educating myself than income flowing back in.
Also getting through the dry patches, the fluctuations of income, establishing passive sales, automatic sales learning how to truly establish real systems that can work for online business and your household.
Trying to maintain and salvage family, finances, relationships, hustling and still making time for my faith and just learning what that means to manage all of them as a HEALTHY business owner.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
1. Serving will always be greater than selling.
2. The biggest lesson that I’ve learned is that absolutely anything can be monetized, as long as it makes someone else’s journey a bit easier. But what makes those ideas the most impactful to skyrocket is when you learn how to market that thing to get to who it’s meant for and take it to the next level.
