Hi Yasmir, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Yasmir Benavides, and this is how Premiere Healing Hands came to be.
It all started during the Covid year when I was still working in education. I had been with Galena Park ISD for eight years, first as a site coordinator and later as a principal’s secretary. That was the last position I held before everything changed.
While working at the school where my daughter attended, I realized I wasn’t happy sitting behind a desk. One day, for Teacher Appreciation, I was making waffles for everyone, and it just hit me. I had too much potential to stay where I was. That moment made me realize I was meant for more.
My first little side hustle was making and selling candy. I thought that was going to be it, but it just wasn’t my passion. I ended up eating more of it than I sold, so I knew that wasn’t my path.
Everything changed after I had my own cosmetic procedure in Colombia. That’s when I discovered post-op care. I had a friend named Ada who took care of me after surgery, and she would do mobile massages. I became so fascinated by the healing process and the way she made me feel, that I decided to learn everything I could about it.
When I came back home, I started taking clients after work. I’d work at the school from 7:30 to 3:30, then see clients at home from 4:30 to 9:00 at night. I had a small room in my house, one massage table, and just faith. I started offering cavitation, wood therapy, and post-op massages. Eventually, clients started calling and asking if I could come to them. That’s when I started doing mobile appointments.
The business started picking up so fast that I began calling in to work just to keep up with demand. That’s when I knew it was time to take a leap of faith. I didn’t know anyone in the post-op field, but I decided to quit my job. When I turned in my two-week notice, I told my principal that I got offered a position with one of the best doctors in Houston. I didn’t even know a doctor at the time, but I just spoke it into existence. And looking back, that leap of faith changed everything.
A year later, I started gaining attention from doctors in Houston. One day, I woke up to a message from Dr. Jung saying he wanted to meet with me. We met, and he offered me an opportunity to run a post-op center that he was opening. At that point, I didn’t even have a massage license yet, but I knew this was my moment.
I traveled to Colombia twice to study, then to Brazil for advanced training. When I came back, I enrolled in night school to earn my massage license. It was tough. I’d go to class from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday, while still working and raising my daughters. There were days I didn’t even get to see them because they’d be asleep when I got home.
Once the post-op center opened, it was just me and one other girl named Eli. That’s how Premiere Healing Hands began. The name came from my clients, who would always tell me that my touch felt healing. That’s when I decided to call it “Healing Hands.” Later, Dr. Jung added “Premiere,” and that’s how the full name was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all. It’s been a lot of challenges, a lot of tears, and a lot of sacrifices.
When I was in massage school, I’d get home late every night and barely rest before starting work again. There were times I wanted to quit because I was exhausted. But I kept pushing because I wanted my name to be out there. I worked for months without taking a single day off, just to keep my business growing.
I also faced negativity, rumors, and people trying to tear down my name. And on top of all that, I went through a divorce while running my business. It was one of the hardest times of my life, but it taught me strength and faith.
Honestly, my brother José has been my biggest support system. If it wasn’t for him, I don’t know where I’d be. He has always been the one telling me to keep going and not look back. There were so many times I would call him crying while driving, ready to give up, and he would remind me that everything I was feeling was temporary and that something better was coming.
Now, I can finally see the fruits of all that hard work. My business is thriving, my team is growing, and I’m living in blessings I used to only pray for.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Premiere Healing Hands, we specialize in post-operative massage and recovery care for patients who have undergone cosmetic procedures. We also offer body sculpting, lymphatic drainage, and other specialized treatments that help patients recover comfortably and confidently.
What makes us different is that we’re not just a spa. We’re a one-stop recovery center that works directly alongside doctors and nurses. Everything a client could need is in one place, from medical support to supplies. When our clients come in, they don’t have to worry about bringing anything. We provide it all from pads, oils, garments, towels…everything is included.
But what really sets us apart is our heart. Every single therapist on my team is hand-picked and personally trained by me. They have to have the same compassion, care, and passion for helping others that I do. Our clients go through something very personal and emotional after surgery, so we make sure they feel safe, cared for, and loved through the whole process.
The name “Healing Hands” came from clients themselves. They always said that my touch felt healing, and that’s what inspired the brand. I’m proud of that because it represents what we stand for: care, healing, and transformation.
Today, we’re a team of about ten to twelve amazing women, and we’ve built something really special together. We’ve grown so much in just a couple of years, and we’re continuing to expand.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Yes, I’d love to share that I also co-own a recovery house, where we take care of patients after their surgeries. It’s one of the best in Houston, and we stay booked and busy. We’ve partnered with top doctors, and it’s been another dream come true.
When I first started this journey, before I took my leap of faith, I asked my parents to pray over my business. I wanted God’s blessing over everything I was about to do. And since that day, I’ve never looked back. We’ve been blessed, and my business keeps growing.
If I could tell anyone reading this one thing, it would be to never stop believing in yourself. I started this business from a small room in my house, with no experience, just faith. I’m now running a successful business, traveling the world, and living a life that I once only dreamed about.
Five years from now, I see Premiere Healing Hands expanding into different states. I also see myself teaching and inspiring other women to chase their dreams, especially in the post-op field. I want them to know that no matter how hard it gets, if you keep pushing, praying, and believing, everything you want will eventually fall into place.
