Inspiring Conversations with Dr. Jessica Marshall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Jessica Marshall.

Hi Dr. Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well, it all began with my keen interests in art and science as a kid. Since dentistry is a combination of both, I figured it would satisfy both while maintaining balance. Unlike most in my profession, I decided to pursue pediatric dentistry after gaining some real world experience. I wanted to be sure that I enjoyed little people and all of their potential “tricks” they can pull on you – regardless of the time of day. After completing my training, I knew that I wanted to do my own practice but decided that I wanted to do some traveling and not rush into the responsibilities that come with ownership. Now, things seem to have come full circle as I’m opening in a community I once lived in as a kid, not too far from my church home – TCWW. I never imagined it would be here in Cypress, but it’s been exciting to see it evolve from several years ago.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ll say that anything worth having is going to require serious effort, passion, consistency, determination as well as a positive attitude. When I have faced challenges, I try to quickly look for plan B. Instead of getting wrapped in something not going as planned, I’ve learned to accept it and see it as an opportunity to evolve, change, to create, or to grow.

As you know, we’re big fans of Pediatric Smiles of Cypress. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a boutique pediatric dental practice opening in the NW Houston suburb – Cypress, TX. We specialize in a variety of treatment options specifically for infants – early teens, such as oral conscious sedation, laser dentistry, and being gentle. One of my little gems is that I love to sing to the kids. We just want to provide a calm, gentle, and kind experience for the kids and their parents. We use part of our proceeds to benefit organizations that help to develop our youth locally and internationally. This inspiration came about from the personal stories from my international friends. Here, we like to get to know you beyond the mouth.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I love to salsa and enjoy music by international artists.
