Hi Ahmad, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Ahmad Kilani, and I’m the founder of Clutch City Cluckers. We specialize in Nashville-inspired Hot Chicken Sandwiches, Cheese Topped Hot Chicken Sandwiches, Chicken Tenders, and more.

Our core values are the 3 C’s: Care, Compassion, and Customer Orientation. Our goal is to keep your taste buds on your toes. We bring the heat or stay cool with various spice levels, from no spice to #CLUCKITLIKEITSHOT!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I started my business journey in the food industry by opening my first food truck in 2015. I faced many obstacles throughout my journey, but this only encouraged me to keep going.

Besides the hardships that any business owner faces, I also went through unfortunate experiences that were unexpected. One of these experiences includes one of my trucks being burned down twice. This was hard to get through, especially when I was just getting started with the food truck business. Looking at the bright side, this motivated me to come back stronger.

I worked hard to get another truck but it was unfortunate again, I got in an accident while driving the food truck, this loss was greater than I expected. Two hits back to back had to start from scratch all over again. However, I had a lot of faith in my business and knew I was going to get through these hard times. In 2020, I decided to open a new concept in the food truck business. That’s when I opened my first Clutch City Cluckers truck.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Clutch City Cluckers?
Our guests love our food and the dining experience, which has been the ultimate contributor to our success. Since our opening in February 2021, we have opened five locations in Houston, one in San Antonio, and our first brick-and-mortar in Amman, Jordan.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The first is having a quality product. To succeed, we needed to develop delicious recipes we knew people would love. After much research & testing, we feel that we’ve developed an amazing menu with lots of ways to enjoy our hot chicken spice flavors. We are always developing new ideas and love to provide our guests with lots of options to choose from.

Another area that helped us with growth is our attention to marketing. Having experience previously opening other businesses, I understood the importance of generating brand awareness. So, I designed our food truck to stand out, with an Instagrammable exterior featuring neon lights, a selfie station, and artificial turf in front of the truck.

Dining at Clutch City Cluckers is not only about the tasty chicken. It’s about the experience of going to the restaurant. I then supported the growth of the concept by investing in high-quality content creation and digital marketing.
