Today we’d like to introduce you to Airu Borjas
Hi Airu, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Since I was very little I had always been a makeup enthusiast, then I started doing my makeup when I was a teenager. I was obsessed with the MySpace era makeup “the scenes it was a lot of eyeliner and very pink lipstick! Then I started doing makeup on my friends just for fun and I found myself enjoying that.
Moving foward I move to the states in 2015 I remember spending a lot of my first income in makeup that I wasn’t able to buy in Venezuela, trying to keep up with the latest products and trends, I started following to the “YouTube Makeup Gurus” and that’s how I learned a lot of tricks at the beginning.
I want to say that makeup was my escape when I was feeling overwhelmed with moving to this country or when I was in a really unhealthy relationship, sounds corny but it was the cure for those hard times.
In 2019 my actual husband who was my boyfriend at that time motivated me to do this as my career since I was so passionate! I remember he was buying me makeup even though we were struggling a little bit just to get my career started. I started working on MORPHE cosmetics and that was the very beginning of learning more about types of skin, shades and all.
2020 came and was a little bit of step back because i was forced to leave Morphe. I wasn’t defeated I started doing online Clases Meanwhile I was working at an Amazon Warehouse.
It was rough but now I solely live of my career! This is my income and I love it!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Yes, A LOT! I want to say is still kinda hard but I have growth in the industry so far, but I’m still wanting to learn more get to know more people such like future clients and get more networking.
I remember I wanted to start my kit and every little money that I was earning I was buying stuff for my clients, I wanted and I still do off course, to give the very luxury experience that makeup is and it should be.
Sometimes people think that makeup services aren’t worth it but trust me, they’re it’s amazing how I can transform a grey day into a sunny day, like my clients are so happy when they see themselves after a service, it fulfills my heart

I specialize in soft glams but I will say that brides are the ones that steal my hearts every time.
I love pamper them, I want them to make their day so much special (and less stressful) as could be.
I love my brides so much! I always try my best to keep in touch with them.
I do my best to offer not only makeup but the actual luxury experience I always want to know them before so I can have an idea how they’re going to be at the date of the service
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
There’s a makeup artist on IG ghtavi luke to watch a lot because she has an subscription and she gives a lot of good tips & tricks on products, skills & how to deal with any type of situation when doing makeup her name is Rachel Lushk
