Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Schoby
Hi Amanda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Many years ago, my husband and I were on a long drive home from AZ, where we traveled to monthly from Las Vegas to visit our older two kiddos. They live in AZ full time with their mom. On this one weary drive home we desperately wanted a massage, time away to just rest and restore. However, we had a new infant, Jasmine. She was precious, but she required a lot of energy. We did not have a tribe of family, friends or a built in network to help us with Jasmine. We did it on our own, which was difficult. So we thought, wouldn’t it be nice to have a place to go to that could watch her so we could rest? Fast forward 6 years or so Agusut 2023, I opened Jasmine Journey Healing Center in Friendswood. Our journey with Jasmine allowed us to see how much restoration parents truly need in todays extremely busy world. So we opened the healing center with a small childcare add on. It didn’t quite catch. We got the feedback that parents already have the built in system for help, or they need more trust in the child care before bringing their kids. Absolutely understandable. We dropped the child care to make room for new activities! So now, instead of childcare we offer pediactric services such as massage for tweens and teens, facials for their delicate skin, offer spa birthday parties and more! Our focus did not change from supporting families find peace through restoration, instead it morphed to meet the needs of our clients. We are so excited to be the first full functioning family day spa in Friendswood. We love what we do and look forward to serving all the families!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course we have had obstacles. Not road is smooth when starting from the ground up! As mentioned before, we learned quickly that child care is not our families priority! Instead we had requests for their kids to join them in services. As we grew in services and staff, our physical space expanded as well. By Augusut 2024 we had added on an entire 1260 additional sq footage to Jasmine Journey. While this addition was exciting, it happened at the same time Hurricane Beryl came thrusting in. This set back construction, caused many clients to cancel appointments, and genuinely stirred up a lot of fear. But we made it! There will always be bumps in the road, we will continue to persevere because we have the best staff, clients and community support.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Jasmine Journey Healing Center is the first of its kind. We are a small family day spa, offering holistic wellness services to the whole family including infant massage classes, pediatric services, prenatal services and regular spa services for the parents.
Our journey with our very own daughter Jasmine taught us what families need most, and that is connection through healing and restoration. We are so proud to have a beautiful family friendly spa mamaged by the most compassionate and patient staff.
Any big plans?
We just had our big expansion 6 months ago. So our plans for now remain more reserved. We are so excited to grow internally, add services to enhance our families lives and help create a go to place for families to feel rested and connected. Things at Jasmine Journey are always growing and changing though, so keep an eye out for changes we get blessed with!
