Inspiring Conversations with Anabel Servin of Anabel Servin Your Houston Real Estate Agent

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anabel Servin.

Anabel Servin

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
During my 12 years working in the education system, I served as a dedicated classroom teacher in bilingual and dual-language classrooms. In my last two years, I transitioned into the roles of a reading interventionist and ESL teacher. Witnessing the growth of my students brought me immense fulfillment. Drawing upon my own experiences as an ESL student, I empathized with my students and made it my mission to equip them with the necessary tools for success.

As passionate as I was about teaching, I found myself yearning for a change after six years in education. Despite pursuing a master’s degree briefly, personal reasons led me to reconsider this path. It was during this time that I recalled a suggestion from my real estate agent, who had encouraged me to explore a career in real estate. Intrigued, I did some research and enrolled at the Champion School of Realtors.

Balancing my responsibilities as a full-time teacher and part-time realtor for four years was undeniably challenging. However, I persevered and discovered a deep love and passion for the real estate industry. I realized that my educational background equipped me with valuable skills that seamlessly translated into my real estate career. Instead of teaching children, I found myself educating and guiding adults in the world of real estate.

About a year and a half ago, I took a leap of faith and made the decision to pursue real estate as my full-time profession. Though daunting, this choice was one I don’t regret making. Looking back, I wish I had embraced this new journey sooner, but I firmly believe in the perfection of God’s plan.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey hasn’t been easy—it’s been filled with struggles and tears. As a first-generation graduate from the University of Houston, transitioning into the real estate world was a tough ride, especially in those initial years. I felt lost and hopeless. Real estate in the real world was nothing like the textbooks or exams; it was way harder, especially for someone like me who had no sales background and wasn’t naturally outgoing. I had to learn a whole new language, understand complex terms, and navigate this unfamiliar real estate terrain.

But I refused to give up. I was determined to show myself that I could be a successful real estate agent. Every single day, I pushed myself, trying to be a better person, learning as much as I could, and doing my best at my job. It was a tough journey, but my perseverance paid off. I know I’ve got plenty of room to grow because I truly believe you never stop learning.

I firmly believe in continuous growth and learning, especially in the ever-evolving field of real estate. I recognize that there is always room for improvement, and I am committed to expanding my knowledge and skills. In the fast-paced world of real estate, staying updated and embracing new learning opportunities is crucial, and I am dedicated to furthering my professional development to better serve my clients and excel in my role.
