Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Moore.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up in Crandall, a small town outside of Dallas, I did not know interior design was a profession – people from our town mostly worked blue collar jobs so it was a luxury few could afford. My first taste of home decor was spending my summers decorating (and redecorating) my bedroom. This eventually grew into designing my own bedroom furniture (that my grandfather built) and I took those pieces with me to college. In 2006, I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and moved to Houston to begin my teaching career. After five years of teaching middle school, I stepped down to raise a family where I focused on creating a home that our family could make memories in. A few years later, in 2015, my husband, Matt, and I decided to move out of the city and into the suburb of Tomball.
It was after that final move and major remodel of our new home in Tomball that ultimately started my path towards creating Moore House Interiors. Through the project of our own home, friends began asking me to help with their projects. The more that people asked for my help, Matt joked that it should be my new business and I think it surprised everyone when I said yes! In 2016, Moore House Interiors (known then as Southern Farmhouse Designs) was formally created and I began the process of building a business while also learning the industry.
In the beginning, I was working solo and only able to offer styling services and virtual design for selections of existing homes. Through the referrals of friends, friends of friends, and family, I had the opportunity to work on a new construction build and fell in love. With the help of mentors, podcasts, books & my friend, Google, I have grown from a team of one to a team of four to offer design services ranging from new construction, renovation design, as well as full service furnishings design. There are plenty of days I still can’t believe my summers of redoing my room would set the course of my career.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No road worth taking is ever smooth. There have been many struggles along the way. Learning to balance being a wife, mom and business owner has been one of the biggest struggles. I will say that I have learned that there isn’t a perfect balance. There is a season for it all and I cannot be great at everything in every season. I’ve had to learn to give myself a lot of grace over the past 6 years.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Moore House Interiors?
At Moore House Interiors, we know that home is more than just a place. We believe that the best spaces are designed to make our clients feel at peace, spark joy, and bring people together. From new construction to renovations and remodels, every space we touch is intentionally designed to add more beauty to our client’s lives-without sacrificing comfort or functionality.
Our motto is creating well-loved, intentional spaces designed for the way you live. We aren’t here to design our dream home or push an aesthetic on clients. We want to create a space that reflects their family’s personality & that is unique to them.
We offer 3 services:
New Construction & Renovation Design. Our team brings our design expertise, knowledge, and organization to the table to help our clients navigate each step of the construction process, from reviewing the architectural plans to picking out and customizing every selection for the home.
Full-Service Design. Our signature turn-key design service is perfect for the busy client who doesn’t want to lift a finger. Whether they need a single room designed or a full home, we conceptualize, source, and install all the elements of the design for them, so they can sit back, relax & get ready for their HGTV reveal.
Virtual Design. Our virtual design service is for the DIY kind of person. Our team will put together a comprehensive design package for the client with furniture layouts and suggested selections to fully equip them with the tools and instructions they will need to bring the space to life.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
There are a couple of really important things that I’ve learned in my journey…
One. Always trust my gut.
Two. Take time to rest and recharge.
Three. Trust God’s lead.
