Hi Beatriz, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, where I earned my degree in Communications and worked for several years at the country’s leading newspaper. In 2000, I moved to Florida, got married, and continued my journalism career with a small Venezuelan publication.
Later, in 2003, when my family relocated to Texas, I took a step back from the professional world to focus on raising my two children. Eventually, I returned to journalism, working for a Venezuelan newspaper in Houston, but I soon realized I needed a more flexible career—one that allowed me to manage my own schedule while being present for my family.
I explored various network marketing opportunities in industries like energy, makeup, and wellness products, but none felt like the right fit. In 2020, I decided to follow a lifelong passion and pursue a career as a Travel Advisor. Starting a travel business during a global pandemic wasn’t easy, but I knew I was on the right path. It was a leap of faith, and today, I couldn’t be more fulfilled helping clients plan unforgettable journeys.
In almost 5 years, CIS World Travel has grown into a trusted and customer-focused travel agency specializing in Caribbean getaways, European adventures, and unforgettable cruise experiences. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many travel agencies, CIS World Travel has faced its share of challenges, particularly navigating the uncertainties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Launching a travel business in 2020, during a time of global travel restrictions, cancellations, and shifting regulations, was far from ideal. However, this period also strengthened our resilience and adaptability, allowing us to refine our expertise and provide clients with valuable guidance in an ever-changing travel landscape.
Another challenge has been building brand awareness and trust in a competitive industry. As a newer agency, establishing a loyal client base took time and effort. Word-of-mouth referrals, social media marketing, and exceptional customer service have played a crucial role in overcoming this hurdle.
Additionally, educating travelers on the importance of using a travel advisor has been an ongoing effort. Many people did not know that travel agencies still exist. They believe they can find the best deals online, not realizing the value a travel professional provides—saving time, reducing stress, and offering insider knowledge and exclusive perks.
Despite these challenges, CIS World Travel continues to grow by staying client-focused, embracing industry changes, and delivering personalized, high-quality service.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve always been a bit of a risk-taker, and that mindset played a huge role in building CIS World Travel. As I said, starting a travel business—especially during a global pandemic—was a bold move, but I believed in the desire and the vision, and took the leap. I knew that success wouldn’t come overnight, but I was willing to put in the work, adapt to challenges, and stay committed to my clients.
Taking risks has allowed me to grow CIS World Travel into what it is today—not even close to the point I want to take it—but every challenge (I often encounter people who request a quote and then disappear, those with a small budget expecting a luxury experience, and others who want me to spend days planning their perfect trip but hesitate to pay for my time and expertise—planning travel takes effort, time, knowledge, and dedication) all of that has been an opportunity to learn and improve, and that willingness to take risks has helped me create unforgettable travel experiences for my clients. Now, I really value working with clients who understand and appreciate the service I provide.
